One of the many problems with cops and ICE agents who were too dumb to be hired as cops is that while some people want the job because it gives good benefits and an early pension, a lot want the job because they fantasize about doing violence to people and being a cop gives them that opportunity.

The government doesn’t track how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. So ProPublica did. We’ve tallied more than 500 Americans held against their will in warrantless arrests and detentions during President Trump’s second term.

Very much agree with this. The Trump admin has purposefully attacked mail in voting from multiple directions and continues to make threats of law enforcement at voting sites… their goal is to create confusion, distrust, and fear… to suppress votes.

President Trump threatens to send 1,000 election monitors to polling places in November. Brennan Center's Sean Morales-Doyle says threats like these are "not about physically or legally interfering in the process, it's about generating fear, worry, concern," so voters don't go to the polls.

Such a good thread both for letting you know what's going on in Paris and for showing standard police tactics. Telling protesters to disperse while blocking all the exits, singling people out with the intent to harm, and using tools that we know cause serious bodily harm? That's the cop playbook.

For my ENG speaking followers Unprecedented High School blockades began in the outskirts of Paris in Créteil on the 21st of Sept. National mobilisations followed on the 29th of September, the 1st and the 6th of October. The movement is ongoing and has spread both in scope and scale. #tippingpoint

ICE appears to be using the parking lot of the Roxbury warehouse for processing and brief detention, and at least once appears to have taken people inside. But also, read this inside look from a federal contractor about how everyone knew the warehouse plan was insane but Miller demanded inhumanity.

NPR spoke to an official at a government contractor whose company was approached to convert several of the warehouses into ICE facilities. He spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation from the government.

"No one that we spoke to at DHS was for this idea whatsoever. The deputy director told us point-blank that they had pushed back very hard on it. Everybody knew warehouses are horrible places to put people," he says.

At a meeting with a deputy director at DHS, he says, his company proposed an alternative: FEMA-style camps in Texas that would be more humane.

He says that idea was swiftly shot down. While White House adviser Stephen Miller was not at the meeting, they were told that this was not what Miller wanted.

The contractor says his understanding from that meeting was that "Miller did not want the facilities that were comfortable. He did not want facilities that were humane. We were told point-blank that that was not what the administration wanted."

"Steve Miller certainly seemed to make that point to everyone that he wanted it to be cruel. This was what Miller had stated to the DHS at that time, to the DHS director and deputy director. What surprised me was just how adamant the people were that it was going to happen. Damn the consequences. I would say in 25 years of working with the U.S. government, I've never been in that position before."

Throughout the summer, rumors have been bubbling in North New Jersey that ICE has quietly been using a warehouse as a detention center. NPR investigated. n.pr/4hzvA5M

I was talking to my mom this morning and she asked what was going on with the terrorist attack they stopped up here. I said “it’s probably another one of those things the fbi loves doing where they convince a teen to plan an attack then arrest him so they can boost their number,” and lol yep.

They started texting with a 16-year-old. After two years, they offered to sell him a gun. They consider that "stopping a terrorist attack." And they are calling it heroic. What an absolute embarrassment.

my team didn’t make the playoffs? that’s right they didn’t. they sucked ass. truly shit in most conceivable ways. but while they *didn’t* make the playoffs, they also *didn’t* make the playoffs. which means they don’t lose in humiliating fashion in front of everybody. like y’all

the common belief that so-called "back office" roles in the public sector are unnecessary is predicated on an understanding of the world of work that's no deeper than "when mummy hides her face she isn't actually there anymore"
