this was such a cool translation project to work on with @bwnadler.bsky.social
This month we have "Additional Persecution Likely" a translation by Oksana Mironova & Ben Nadler of sections of Delo Truda, a Russian & Ukrainian anarchist paper printed in exile after the Russian Revolution. Word of the month is about a town in Ukraine. Read for free at TangledWilderness.org
I followed @oksanamir.bsky.social down an anarchist history rabbit hole (not the first time), and Strangers in a Tangled Wilderness published the resulting zine.

We're already seeing a spike in evictions (up 26%)! It's only going to get worse without more help!
i am so tired of screaming from the rooftops that we have a looming, avoidable crisis of evictions brewing. everyone knows it, but yet government and philanthropy have no solutions. unpaid volunteers of rent funds are doing the work that the people who control the purse strings refuse to do

A State Unknown: LGBTQ+ Advocate Talap Mamyrkanov Faces Deportation
At an Uzbek restaurant in Sheepshead Bay, we ate plov, manti, and shashlik, and talked for a couple of hours. It was summer. The chicken wings he’d insisted on ordering grew cold; I leaned back in my ...

Really proud of @jfrejnyc.bsky.social working to push back against those cynical assumptions.
The truly craven form of identity politics Democratic elites are playing against Zohran Mamdani is a fascinating real time enactment of @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social's Elite Capture thesis. Cynical assumptions, especially about Black and Jewish voters, completely rejected by the electorate.
As weirdos are starting their McCarthyite calls against Zohran, @bwnadler.bsky.social and I have a new piece about the Red Scares that got us here. Thanks to @proteanmag.com & @jakeromm.bsky.socialfor putting this out. proteanmag.com/2025/06/26/t...

Developers of LIHTC properties are generally giddy over proposed increase & changes to LIHTC in House resolution. By itself, it's good to have more LIHTC $$. But if LIHTC tenants get hit w/Medicaid & SNAP cuts, many tenants will have trouble paying rent & that could destabilize LIHTC properties.
My geriatric millennial takes are about the 1905 Russian revolution + that time the NYPD brought a tank to the Lower East Side.

Endorse Cuomo, have the rank and file oust you one week later 💯
States’ rights to make what decisions, Sec. Turner?
We ran the numbers, and stabilized tenants would save about $500 a month in just a couple of years with a sustained rent freeze.
A new report from @cssnyorg.bsky.social finds that freezing the rent on stabilized apartments would save New Yorkers nearly $7 billion over four years. When working people have more money in their pockets, the entire economy benefits. It’s time to give tenants some relief.
Next week, we'll get a signal from NYC's rent guidelines board how much rents in one million rent stabilized apartments will go up, if at all. At @cssnyorg.bsky.social, our analysis shows that a rent freeze this year is justified:

did they AI their Campaign Finance Board filing, like their housing plan?
Andrew Cuomo isn't among the mayoral candidates getting public matching funds today, per a list of disbursements that the Campaign Finance Board chair just read off. Not yet clear why Cuomo's being denied. His campaign said last month it expected $2M+ in matching funds.
What herbs do i have to gather and distill to conjure up "the symbol of rent control," or as I like to call it der Symbolhaftmietendeckel?
It was a big weekend for Andrew Cuomo's Mistakes Dept., with the former gov. dropping a plan for NYC's housing crisis marred with gobbledygook, to being the subject of a scathing audit finding NY spent $452M on pandemic gear that was never distributed.
