It's true, but I do want to note that while the Soviets resorted to coercion and violence as weapons of first resort, nothing like what happened to Warsaw occurred at the hands of the Red Army - not even in the infamous slaughters in East Prussia, Berlin, and Königsberg. It really was different.

You can see this in other ways too If someone says settlement construction is "counterproductive" as opposed to illegal, or that Israel must "investigate itself" as opposed to be investigated by the US or UN, or "Netanyahu's policies" or "fringe public figures like Smotrich/Ben-Gvir"

Fun fact: in our polling of battleground states, about 60% of voters said it is a “top” or “high” priority for Congress to investigate and hold Musk accountable. Lean into it Dems. He’s a cartoon villain - treat him like one.

LISEP take the position middle class should be the standard in a country like the USA

I think historians should be careful not to misrepresent the context of their sources in a way that would lead a reasonable reader to an incorrect conclusion. Direct factual accuracy is the first virtue of historical work, only after which must come any other virtues of style, activism, etc.

just had a historian of colonialism make a mistake in posting a text about a British woman buying two Indian children in a princely state *explicitly to free them from slavery* as though it was to keep them as slaves, then accuse the people who corrected her of not knowing about British slavery.

Of course everyone stumbles into a mistake here or there eventually. The solution is to admit it and then make yourself the bearer of the correction.

none of the people complaining about el-sayed saying this actually think it's a bad message. most Americans have agreed that 9/11 was cynically used to get us into a pointless war that cost untold lives for close to two decades now. what they are actually objecting to is a Muslim talking about 9/11.
