First NYT estimate is AES+2, but well within the MOE right now 😵💫

Also, I think, reasonably consistent with wanting the party to push back on Trump and his party. In safer seats, that’s fiercer advocates. In swingier seats, it’s people who can stop Republicans from holding the seat.
I have no idea if this is what's going on or not but the results tonight are all consistent with my broad belief that Democratic primary voters are scared to death of losing again and as much as they like left/progressive ideas they are fucking terrified of losing again
This is like watching the NBA draft lottery and asking “who’s winning?” after pick 8 is revealed.
Regardless of how it turns out NO HE DIDN’T. It’s like saying I have more fingers on my left hand after counting 8 digits from left to right with a ring finger and a pinky still to report.
The vibe, even on here, like 2 hours when I was checking my phone and just now when I checked again was *quite* different !
it seems clear that El Sayed is going to underperform his polls really badly in Michigan whether he wins or loses
Michigan has always had a ton of error but primary polling in this era is particularly tough because of lack of partisan benchmarks that help center GOP vs Dem polling.
if nothing else another big night for the "polling in the no-one-picks-up-their-phone-anymore Era is cooked" take
I’m so happy to be back with my commentator boyz for the WSOP Final Table
I HAVE REALLY COME AROUND ON THESE GUYS
I looked at this and was like “wait, why is the Michigan primary on a Monday?” and then I remembered that my day off is Mondays and it destroys my conception of time

the best HS teams in the country have multiple guys who will be in the NBA in a couple of years. they aren't normal high schools, they're basketball factories. but this literally doesn't matter. the value of women's sports isn't contingent on their performance vis a vis men.
Don't just drive past the premise, though, which is absurd. Any WNBA team is exclusively the top 0.01% athletes in the sport. Pretending that a high school team could hang with, much less beat, them is ridiculous.
New Spider-Man movie actually pretty good. It’s kinda the platonic ideal of a Marvel movie?
Guy next to me at the movies is not wearing shoes
“Cornejo described her son as a hard-working man who had been in the country for about 20 years and was a devoted father to a 12-year-old girl.” "The death comes months after Jean Wilson Brutus, 41, died on Dec. 12 while in ICE custody at Delaney Hall. It was still unclear how he died.”
María Cornejo “tearfully decried the loss of her son. “‘I don’t have a way of healing this deep pain, this pain is too profound,’ she said while crying.” www.nj.com/essex/2026/0...
You’d have to be a fool and/or desperate to get to yes to accept this, so it’ll probably be enough to get him confirmed. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/u...
Blanche Gives G.O.P. Senators Written Assurances on Trump’s I.R.S. Deal
Todd Blanche’s confirmation as attorney general has been held up over concerns about a planned $1.8 billion fund for Trump allies and the president’s immunity from tax scrutiny.

Ok I looked this up, and jeez it’s pretty grim how little the Dynamo have gotten from their academy. I feel like Houston should be a decently fertile area, even with FC Dallas nearby ?
He might have been in Houston’s catchment area at the time, but that may have been your problem right now. How many guys have come through the Dynamo academy system
I know we’re only supposed to say bad things about AI, but goddamn if it isn’t good at creating spreadsheets/doing some coding tasks
this is the kind of obstreperousness, don't tell me what to do-ness, i got rightsness that is the sheet anchor of American liberties.

Hilarious heat check/flame out from Infantino you have to admit
This is just going to be politics in the creator economy
Ultimately I think every Dem is preferable to every Rep (not accounting for scandal/impropriety) But even if I’d always vote for the D candidate, many (esp this cycle) would benefit from being immensely less annoying expeditiously
You can explain why they actually don't create many jobs. weirder is saying this while basically every local community says they don't want them.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
Not having a strong opinion about an election far away kinda rocks sometimes ngl
There’s an unfortunate joke about MKG’s jumpshot in here somewhere
It was great to meet with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to discuss the Kidd's Stuttering Act. Michael, thank you for being an inspiration and for using your platform to help others. 1/2
I've been doing a lot of research into gambling in America (should be much more heavily regulated but the discourse around it has reached moral panic levels) and one thing that comes through in the economic research is that sports betting and Robinhood are pretty big substitutes.
Robinhood breaks down growth in client assets between new deposits and market gain/loss. Client assets were +$90.1B from Q2 2025. Of that, $75.7B was net deposits. Net market impact was $14.4B - which equals a 5.1% gain from Q2 '25 asset levels. Over that span, S&P 500 was up 20%. Churn and burn.

"They know this is TV, right??" a CBS News senior staffer texted me about this news. "I hate it here," another CBS reporter said.
Scoop: I’m told that Ross Douthat is exiting The NYT and is expected to take a role at “60 Minutes.” News expected to be announced soon.
There are plenty of problems with youth soccer in this country, broadly speaking, but producing elite talent is not really one of those problems anymore !!
Game ends 6-1. To me, standard of play looks miles ahead of where elite youth play was in the recent past. Most of these players are in the pro pipeline so much earlier, and are so much more well-rounded, than previous generations. Those who really care about USMNT fortunes at the World Cup...

The reason fewer USMNT players come out of college doesn't have anything to do with college getting worse or a higher percentage of international players in NCAA. It's just that pro teams have academies and lower tier teams have decent minimum salaries. 20 years ago all those guys went to college.
