"A Russian missile wiped out an entire family. Will this photograph stop the war? Most likely not. But I believe the world needs to see the truth," said photographer Yefrem Lukatsky. "I hope those whom this photograph will hurt can forgive me. Kyiv, July 6, 2026," he added.

Astrocytes do so much more than any of us thought - they even communicate among specific brain regions across hemispheres! The journey to this paper spanned nearly a decade, but I'm most excited to see what everyone else does with the tools we've built. There's so much for all of us to explore!

Astrocytes connect specific brain regions through plastic networks - Nature

Communication between distant brain regions is mediated by plastic networks of gap junction-coupled astrocytes.

Let me introduce you to KaroSpace, which is a rapid-access framework for interactive exploration of multi-sample spatial omics data. The preprint can be accessed here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

There’s an art to writing a grant proposal so that your creativity is on full display. Maria Leptin - president of the ERC - talks about it on the new episode of the Night Science Podcast.

New 🧬✂️ pre-print! We show that paired prime editing can efficiently generate large deletions — even >1 Mb — with high precision and at scale. We use this to perform the first pooled prime deletion screen across the human genome. 🔗 biorxiv.org/content/10.1... A short thread (by Juliane Weller)👇

Generating long deletions across the genome with pooled paired prime editing screens

Engineered deletions are a powerful probe for studying genome architecture, function, and regulation. Yet, the lack of effective methods to create them in large numbers and at multi-kilobase scale has...
