honestly the most depressing thing to me is that we have to talk about this again and again and again and again and again. how to teach men to have human feelings, how to get people to believe us
maura quint@mauraquint.bsky.social · 2w agoYes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.
also: a reminder that restorative justice is definitionally within the control of the person who has been harmed and not ANYONE ELSE. it cannot be a route chosen for them, and they have full control over the process. otherwise it’s just sparkling mediation
survivors are also frequently encouraged to "speak out" and "start conversations" in order to "change the world" but we receive nothing but harrassment, suspicion, and hate for doing so. i grieve so often for the girl i was during MeToo who truly believed that things were soon to get better.
survivors of sexual violence are constantly asked to sacrifice our safety and wellbeing on the off chance that people who've committed literal torture might at some point have had a change of heart. when will our safety, wellbeing, dreams, aspirations, futures, or peace of mind matter?

Something I do wanna point out, since it bears repeating again: Do not even pirate this (be it illegal streaming, downloading, etc.), as companies track these numbers, and check for engagements, too. These numbers still matter, as it shows the property is "healthy". So don't do that.
Phillip Iscove@pmiscove.bsky.social · 4w agoI for one won’t be watching and hope that JK is in for a rude awakening. It’s also pretty crazy to be this overly confident about rehashing your already adapted books with lesser known actors.

trickssi, C.A. @ Kinshokucon@trickssi.bsky.social · 4w agoOur local Kroger has Nuvaxovid (formerly Novavax, the non-mRNA vaccine) in stock, so we're getting it today! Definitely recommend for its distinct lack of side effects and longer protection period. If you can, get your COVID shot first and WAIT to get your flu shot until mid/late October.

Did the math for due diligence in today's update; it's actually 15 TIMES LONGER than their harassment policy. Quick question, do you think Meta Glasses will be used to ever, oh, idk, maybe harass someone? Follow up, why do you so obviously want to further marginalize survivors of sexual violence?
