Cape Verdeans are now honorary Philadelphians because that was basically ROCKY. They weren't "supposed" to be there, much less going the distance with the champions and the GOAT, who had to give it everything they've got just to eek out a win in overtime. Bravo.

Hugo Gordon@hugogordon.bsky.social · 3mo agoI do think a lot of English-based analysis of what happened in Northern Ireland last night is missing the specifically loyalist aspect of the violence. These are groups with a long history of violently driving out "outsiders", turning their sights on a new vulnerable minority.

Saw it in an art show called "Counterhistories", in show on "Art & Democracy", and in show on the 250th Anniversary of U.S. more recently. Kent State (1970) is not completely forgotten like some U.S. atrocities like the Orangeburg Massacre that killed students in 1968, but important to talk about.

I can’t get over how increasingly desperate and worried district judges are — they are doing all the right things — and how they’re being betrayed by appellate judges and a Supreme Court, both too cowardly to stand behind their decisions.

The second is simply "Jesus wept." Astonishing thing for a judge to do.
Picture a schlubby, unpleasant 16 year old dork. He goes up to a popular, smart, & beautiful Latina & asks her to homecoming. He’s repellant, so she curtly says no. Then he notices that a small group of her friends—Latina, Black, Asian—are laughing at him. There’s probably a story like that.
