Trump is already planning for the 20*30* Census. This time, not only does he want to stop counting noncitizens, he wants to stop counting race and ethnicity. Can't have an unconstituional racial gerrymander if you pretend not to know where Black people live. My latest in @thenation.com

The Trump Plan to Cook the Census Books

From adding a citizenship question to not tracking race and ethnicity, the administration wants to minimize Black and brown political power.

Both the Economist and others suggest this study demonstrates that AI can help students. So I contacted the lead researcher to figure out how many. Answer: Out of ~26,000 kids, a total of 20. And five months after starting to use AI, only four continued to spend 65 minutes on homework. Four.

Graph of student exam scores correlated to homework completion time for to groups, students using AI and those that did not. There is a slight spike for studens using AI who also maintained extensive homework completion time. As described in post, the number of students falling into this bucket was 20 out of 26,000.

I mean, c'mon. What this data shows is (a) there's a huge number of students using AI and not studying for very long compared to peers; and (b) negligible "benefits" for students who did study for comparable time periods and used AI.

Final Hawaii precipitation maps from Hurricane Lala. I pulled gauge observations and blended that with model data to get the spatial pattern. My method estimates a max of 45 inches on the southeastern flank of Mauna Loa, but there were no gauges in that area to verify.

The Trump regime is looking for immigrant detention camps big enough to hold up to 3,000 children. At an industry roundtable discussion, officials wouldn't say exactly where or when they need them, only that they’re expecting a “surge.” New from me in @prospect.org.

Judge Orders Monitors for Child Detention as Trump Administration Plans Expansion - The American Prospect

The order came the same day that the Office of Refugee Resettlement held an industry roundtable to discuss new detention facilities for thousands of children.

Hey Yale, this is what it looks like to stand up for one’s principles — & defend democracy: Rather than capitulate to the Trump regime’s campaign of retaliation, ABC hired some of the country’s best lawyers to lay out in utterly clear language just how un-American and undemocratic that campaign is.

Government censorship is deeply un-American. That fundamental principle

That campaign began in this Administration's carliest days and has only intensified
since. Again and again, the Administration has attacked ABC's speech - the stories its journalists report and the viewpoints its network programs air. Over time, those attacks have escalated into express demands that ABC be stripped of its broadcast licenses because of its speech.

Today in "this administration totally supports The Troops", service members are getting notified that their children will no longer be provided with transportation from day care to elementary school. When your work day starts at 6:15 AM, that's a problem.
