Among other things, I'm still kinda mad that Jaime in Season 7 was somehow able to force march his army from both Casterly Rock and King's Landing, completely surprise Highgarden, and then storm and take one of the oldest and strongest castles on the continent straight off the march. Idiocy.
I think Marvel convincing people that they were nostalgic for 'The Amazing Spider-Man' in doing the No Way Home stuff pretty much destroyed any faith I have that there's an actual bar for this stuff.
Like most interesting exegesis of the Prequel Trilogy, this requires inventing an entirely new story to interpret with only tangential relation to the existing movies.
I had no idea this was a type of guy??
karen bass “independent” audits are run by her former chief of staff and campaign manager etc... Karen Bass is unbelievably corrupt... and thinks everyone else is too stupid to notice
On the other hand, while I don't do Halloween profiles, you can count on me doing one for Christmas! That's a Ronin Guarantee!
Profile successfully de-Halloweened. Order restored. You can't waterboard me into doing a Christmas one. Too many sacrifices have already been made.
If you’re reading this from a peaceful country tonight, enjoy that peace. And please remember the Ukrainians who are still fighting for theirs💙💛 #ukraine #ukrainian #ukrainians #ukrainiangirl #war
one of my favorite moments of TNG is when Picard is immediately unable to contain his horse autism
Orthodox Christian pretending to be scared of an ancient Christian feast day lol fuck off jackass
You want to know why I stay home on the spookiest night of the year? I’ve got stories, writes Rod Dreher.
It's not even hypothetical - after the Munich Putsch the German state was in a position to destroy Nazism if it wanted to. They had the legal architecture and public legitimacy to ban the party for good and put its leaders behind bars for life. Instead they basically let them off.
Saw "You Can See Everything" today. Very good movie, maybe my favorite theater experience of the year.
Considering that not only are the prequels just bad movies, but they have somehow apparently convinced half its fanbase that the Jedi are actually just as bad as the Sith and had it coming, I genuinely think that as movies they failed on levels hitherto unseen.
Kids, you won’t believe me, but all the way back in the 1900s, Starbucks was a place with big comfortable chairs and chill vibes and a great pumpkin cream cheese muffin and it didn’t steal your biometric data the moment you walked in to use the bathroom.
Starbucks CEO says the company is planning to focus more on AI and tech, including a adding system that would recognize customers as they arrive in stores to "present personalized digital menus."
Ian McKellen reciting Shakespeare's writing on racist anti-immigration riots in London during his time. It is excellent. They have been banging the same drum for 400 years.
Having just completed my SHAPE training, I feel like this would be construed as sexual harassment.
Trump on Jon Husted: "He has a great ass. Very powerful ass."
What Musk is actually scared of: -DOGE hearings -Starlink hearings -NHTSA implementing a 2016 guidance that deems "foreseeable misuse" of driver assistance systems a defect -DOJ fraud charges over "Full Self-Driving" -EPA crackdown on systematically out-of-compliance facilities at Musk-run firms
the "other reasons" Musk deems "irrelevant" include silly little stuff like requiring his companies adhere to the law
Pretty wild that ProPublica dropped an unbelievably damning article about pay-to-play corruption by Collins and the entire national political press conspired to make it go away.
People are saying "how come the new rape allegations against trump didn't merit this kind of coverage" which is totally fair, but I'm also like- what about the susan collins bribery scandal? That is a million billion times worse than this! She was basically caught red-handed!
I will say, the advantage of going as Lanterns!Hal Jordan is that it means I now have a pretty decent autumn coat and, if I take off the ring, it's basically indistinguishable from just regular clothes.
My only caveat here is that I think it starts with NEMESIS (2002), and perhaps paradoxically is tied directly to the end of the Cold War.
From Undiscovered Country to Nemesis: How Star Trek Reflects Society
It is a common cliche that Science Fiction says more about the present than it does the future, and perhaps no franchise embodies that more than Star Trek, which has always openly served as a socie…

what latter-day trek failed to *believe*--and this starts with abrams imo--is that all that peace and diplomacy stuff actually works "oh all the talking is cute, it's Right, but it's actually just a cute little luxury, at the end we must resort to Force"
it’s ok everyone, I have confirmed that this is referring to the city and NOT to the emperor’s pet chicken of the same name!! You can breathe easy!!!
Rome has fallen ‼️ Wonder why that's not been reported in the MSM? What else are "they" hiding from us? Follow me for more made up stories Link in next post.

saw some reports that google is turning off AI mode by default in search; seems to have already rolled out to me
My fears may have been justified; around where Section 5 of the first chapter of Book XVIII ends, they begin to diverge fairly substantially. I don't know enough paleography to meaningfully pick up the trail but I guess I will have to do what I can. Either way it's been... interesting.
There's already a spelling mistake in the manuscript's first line; "φισικῶν" instead of "φυσικῶν," so I worry that I'm going way off-track with this.
This is my ironic punishment for subjecting my teachers in grade school to my chickenscratch handwriting.
Paleography is kicking my ass, and tracking what this manuscript is trying to say by switching back and forth between the digitization and the online Loeb edition is tricky. So, I'm doing it the hard way: a physical copy in my hands, tracking the text line by line until it diverges too widely.
