Climate/water scientist💧🌊 People = Good. Billionaires = Bad. Eat mango dessert, mask up, land back, save the salmon, imprison no one and house everyone. She/her. Views own
Hong Kong just broke its all-time temperature record at 36.8 C. Climate change is real. Help.
Seattle likes to be known as a progressive safe haven. It’s become an identity. But we are only as safe and progressive as the people who live here make it. The cops and state government have made it clear they wont stop this. What does it say about our community if we don’t meet the moment?
July was ICE’s busiest month yet in the Puget Sound region. It’s a stealthy surge, without the helicopters or smoke grenades of Chicago and MN. But the surge is real, with real people taken every day. Each red pin is someone’s family member, neighbor, coworker, loved one.
I NEVER say this about ANY dim sum in Seattle but this pork steamed bun was bomb. Perfect texture fluffy bouncy bread, light ferment flavor, not too sweet. Meat was fresh & fragment, not over seasoned like most places. SLU Saturday market and they said in Kent, too. Maybe brick & mortar soon. $5
Watching a movie in the park is a great way to end the day.
Landlord, Michael E Heijer accidentally CCed the entire Seattle city council, asking fellow landlords to testify against rental junk fee banning. Said renters who testified in favor of banning junk fees were the “unemployed left trying to stick it to the man.” Still think this isn’t a class war?
Shoutout to @socklessinseattle.bsky.social for the beautiful collage art!! 😍😍😍😍 There is nothing that could ever replace beautiful humans making beautiful things, so we will NEVER use any AI-generated art. If we ever do on accident, we need you to yell at us and we will remove it immediately.
Join us on our August 29th Salmon Stroll in Ballard to examine the salmon and perceive-r the beavers! First, learn about the journey urban salmon take through the Ballard Locks. Then learn about beavers living at Golden Gardens! Everyone is welcome. RSVP here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

We'll be riding the Golden Garden Direct bus to go between destinations. This will be the FIRST TIME riding this bus for many of us, so we're PUMPED!!! What could be better than a day of salmon viewing, beaver tracking, and bus riding with new and old friends?! 😍 See you on August 29th!
P.S. We may or may not be starting a "EcoCity Re-imagineers" girl scout badging program for people who attend multiple of our events or otherwise take actions with us...soooo you might wanna try to come to as many things as possible if you want really cute badges that show how awesome you are...
Good morning! We are a newly formed grassroots groups of environmental experts & advocates who love cities, nature, & people. We want to build a fun & collaborative community of environmentalists who love trees and orcas just as much as they love busses, bike lanes, and walkable communities.
We'll be hosting transit-accessible urban nature exploration events to learn about nature in cities & what we can do to make them work together even better. We will also be advocating for urban policies that improve the lives of both wildlife & people in our cities, including a bolder Comp Plan.
We dream of cities full of people from all walks of life and backgrounds, living in quiet tree-lined ecodistricts within homes they can permanently afford. We dream of food, friends, and fun only ever being a short walk or bike ride away.
We dream of vibrant and diverse neighborhoods with pocket parks full of native plants, where neighbors meet up to forage for native berries or drink coffee from the local cafe under the shade of their favorite collective tree.
We dream of salmon, otters, and beavers swimming through our urban streams within restored floodplains and free public parks.
We dream of accessible trails winding along restored lakeshores and wetlands, teeming with waterfowl, and a frequent bus that drops you off right at the trailhead.
We dream of all city dwellers opening their windows to the sound of songbirds and scent of flowers and trees, rather than honking cars and exhaust fumes.
We're based on unceded Coast Salish land. We've built out an incredible steering committee of environmental organizers and professionals with expertise in salmon, habitat restoration, land conservation, labor organizing, land use, invertebrates (oft overlooked!), birds, plants, water, and climate.
We're also in the process of building out our advisory committee. If you think you might be interested in joining us, send an email to info@ecocityaction.org. We are first & foremost here to have fun & make new friends & connections with each other & the urban wildlife. We can't wait to meet you :)
WAIT...COULD IT BE?!?! An actual REAL new environmental org in Seattle that's not just the usual NIMBYs in a trench coat? I think so!!!!

Look at the scale of this environmental destruction. Nothing but a desert of invasive lawn grass fed by excessive water use and pesticides and fertilizers up the wazoo. Car dependent sprawling gated community in a would be well connected and central area. Prob each house with 2-3 ppl. Devastating
What kind of people would vote to defund Seattle public libraries? This kind. Eminent domain Broadmoor.
SEATTLE PEOPLE PLEASE EMAIL YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS AND TELL THEM TO BAN JUNK FEES.
U.S. immigration authorities are proposing a change that will effectively mean any foreigner that loses their job goes out of status IMMEDIATELY (they want to eliminate the 60 day ‘grace period’) Folks should keep an eye on this one, it’s going to be a major one […]

The people who complain about empty bike lanes do not want full bike lanes. They want no bike lanes.
I love when people argue Democrats need to run to the center by saying shit like, "We need to be careful because otherwise Republicans will paint Democrats as crime-loving commies who want to turn every kid trans!" As if Republicans are not already doing exactly that.
Oh this is my favorite little walk in my neighborhood. Really reminds you of your mortality. Oh yeah and of how much wsdot and sdot want me to die
More adventures on 145th, this time on the Seattle side. Now with less than 1ft of space.
When @analogist.net and @shirleyswirley.bsky.social and I were doing tabling *in 2023* for Jackson Park 4 All, the #1 infrastructure thing people wanted in a replacement for the golf course: Bathrooms. The second most popular? Wide walking trails. Can't imagine why.
There are 4 lanes of 40-50mph traffic for you to roll off the curb into in case your wheeled device is wider than 7 inches. Driving is definitely the preferred way to get to the light rail station.
may launch a “raise your bike seat“ awareness campaign. long past time the cycling community turned its attention to this issue.
