Every "I used AI for this" starts "I'm treating this like an unpaid intern" and goes through "10-50% of the time it makes up bullshit data" and ends with "I'm still going to use it, because I caught it." Motherfucker, if that actually WAS an intern, you'd have fired them for being shit at their job.

As we enter the last week of Hugo voting, a reminder that October Daye is up for Best Series, and winning would be made SO MUCH SWEETER by the fact that I could take my trophy and inform the room "I'm going to Disneyland," then ACTUALLY DO IT, since Disneyland will be less than a mile away. WOW!

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Great piece of writing on Vampire Survivor and the rise of gambling in games and culture. It depresses me that the 2D action genre has fallen into this pattern where so much of it is about random chance and builds now, rather than moment to moment play, learning and gaining skill.

Unlocked! Belatedly, I look at Vampire Survivors, and lament that everything is gambling now, even when the only thing you're wasting is your time:

also, hello to everyone who found this from a repost, after I quit LJ in 2007 and had my long-overdue year-long mental breakdown, another ex-employee and I cofounded Dreamwidth (www.dreamwidth.org), everything we always wanted to do with LJ with 100% less "being owned by the state bank of Russia"

I regret to inform you that my brain will think it's the year 2000 until the day I die. When is 30 years ago? 1970. How long ago were the '90s? 10 years ago. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

I gave a dear friend a gift I'm very proud of tonight even though I just assembled it - she's an old school Sailor Moon fan, and also one of the baddest bitches I know, so I got my paws on a complete set of @yoshiyoshitani.bsky.social Sailor Scouts badass "business cards" and framed them for her!

20 business card sized art prints arranged in an uneven grid in a large black frame. 10 of the cards depict modern fashion forward reimaginings of the Sailor Scouts from Sailor Moon, and the other 10 are the same cards reversed so you can see the sassy slogans and funny contact emails listed like a business card.

Okay. This is a big deal for me Three years ago, writer Henry Bean told me he had a short story he'd finished in 2020, which he felt needed to be published He'd been turned down everywhere I read it I was stunned I took it to @jewishcurrents.bsky.social It's up now, and it will change you:
