I will shout from the rooftops that AI can't create art. It just can't. It can make content, but content isn't art. And we’re in an age where we’re told we’re making content and not art - and I think part of the pushback is reminding everyone what ART is and saying you're MAKING ART & NOT CONTENT.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Just a reminder that you can turn all this annoying AI nonsense off in Acrobat! Just go into your preferences and it will never again try to summarise, say, your own book for you. Or a contract you really do need to read every word of.

No matter what the proposed session, a speaker attempting to buy their way onto literary festival programs is a slippery slope ... a slap in the face for writers, disrespecting festival teams, and out-of-touch with audiences. (This is from a paywalled article published yesterday by Lamestreampod)

In February, Whitfird met with Byron Writers Festival to offer them $30,000 in sponsorship, in exchange for him to speak at his own event on the subject of "the feminisation of the Australian publishing industry" and declining reading rates among boys. The festival turned him down, citing the need to protect the independence and integrity of programming. Whitford has accused Byron Writers Festival of censoring him. His campaign has enlisted support from right-wing politicians and far-right podcasters.

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.
