The way to message through all of this is "We can have a better world where we're not all affected by rich, pissy men who can't handle their shit." That's all. Leave the memes behind, the lame attempts at going viral, and just say, we can have all of these things and be free of this bullshit.
What's so unfortunate about @anajeanliss.bsky.social's well-founded concern here is that the "toxic strongman political ecosystem" is usually what enables the "apocalyptic new developments." www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/n...

10 Questions With Andrew Cuomo

This Rümeysa Öztürk hearing is radicalizing. I've been a court reporter for many years, and I've never covered anything like this: A student deeply committed to her studies, imprisoned solely over writing an op-ed, being made to testify under oath for her own freedom. Dark, dark stuff.
One estimate found that a single ChatGPT search uses 10 times the energy of a normal Google search. In this op-ed, politics editor @leximcmenamin.com addresses the environmental costs of AI that not many seem to be talking about ⤵️

Wrote this 7 yrs ago this week in an attempt to process the madness and perversity of working for–and being abused by–a powerful male narcissist. This was of course back when egregiously cruel, misogynistic behavior by public figures could still leave us gobsmacked. www.nybooks.com/online/2018/...

This new White House executive order says that the US Attorney General is going to prevent states from implementing democratically passed laws regarding climate change and clean energy. It scarcely needs stating at this point that this is wildly, unambiguously unconstitutional. Dictator shit.

White women being called foot soldiers of the patriarchy somehow still inadequate for Megyn Kelly. May this interview radicalize those who have the stomach to listen.
Megyn Kelly, the former Fox News host, has found a new lane in podcasting and on YouTube. She built her career in the mainstream media, but says she’s now in “a new ecosystem where the old rules don’t apply.” Read, listen or watch The Interview. nyti.ms/43t1YjX

1. One of capitalism’s greatest successes is to shut down our imaginations. With the help of its favoured tools - neoliberalism and fascism - it persuades us that “there is no alternative”. Our first task is to re-ignite our moral imaginations and name our alternatives. 🧵

Cuomo’s treatment of women was a feature of his office, not a bug. Beyond the fact that women like Boylan deserve better, is that Cuomo was a liability to his party -- a ruthless bully, consummate liar, and a paragon of the same narcissistic male “leadership” we’re currently trying to survive.
“His path to victory is to destroy the women he abused,” @lindseyboylan.bsky.social told the AP. “I’ll do everything within my power and my sense of ethics to make sure it doesn’t happen.” apnews.com/article/cuom...
“Men who are conditioned to respect the female virtues of growth and the sacredness of life do not violate women. It is significant that in societies where nature is held sacred, r*pe only occurs rarely.” -Peggy Reeves Sandy, quoted in @reahbravo.bsky.social’s book
As the first-time author of a book exploring our culture's enablement of abusive men, I can add anecdotally that those most excited to hear about my work are *always* those who assume I'm blaming women for their abuse.
The quickest way for women writers to gain credibility is to write something antifeminist. I know this but I’m still so frustrated whenever any of them do it.
I keep returning to Complicit by @reahbravo.bsky.social . I began it because I'm interested in misogyny, but I've found it pertinent to a much broader range of concerns. Read it if you wonder how poor conservatives can support elected officials who are harming them.
