I don't know why I would spend a half-hour carefully crafting a prompt to get some approximation of nuanced performance out of a computer when I could just tell some random guy I found on Backstage dot com "Do it a little angrier" and get the same result in a couple minutes.

So, yes, avoid the website discussed below, but also -- For all of the "AI IS THE FUTURE" discussion, what generative AI appears to be mostly doing, at the moment, is forcing multiple people to waste time because of crap like this.

Go ahead and animate public domain images or archival material. Use real, human animators. Go to town. We see that a lot in historical documentaries. But that's not what she's doing, and it concerns me that she doesn't realize it (or does and doesn't care).

I get why people write scripts and read off them for presentations, but I also kinda feel like if you're going to read a script then why am I sitting in this zoom? Just send me the slides and the text and I can read it much faster on my own. Listening to someone rotely read a script is so boring.
