I spoke about being queer in a religious upbringing to 200 Scottish teens at book event this afternoon. Had seven (yes, seven) queer students and two trans students come out to me quietly in the signing queue afterwards, one of them in tears. I will never forgive those who make their lives so hard.

Supervised a children's board game session at work, the Monopoly session was entirely peaceful, whereas Guess Who sparked several rounds of all-out war.

Love it when Something(TM) flares up and I feel vaguely ill all day, but not enough to justify not just doing my day normally, but with more toilet breaks and constantly craving a nap.

Institutional support and protection of “controversial views,” when those views consist of the declaration that some group of people are inherently inferior, or involve “debate” over the humanity of some people, is tantamount to supporting the elimination of those people.

When you allow shit heels like Cofnas, like Stock, like Byrne, like Goran, like Joyce into the academy and then use the structure of the academy to protect those views, you are telling every marginalized person your institution wants them dead.
