Not only were we basically blamed for "making news" (we didn't, we responded) and told we are to get dems elected... We were also asked why we weren't spending more time attacking republicans. In short, to me, the ODP's stance is, "Hush, get in line, do as you're told."

Also, it very much is what we have said it was. What @erininthemorning.com and @esqueer.net have said it was. It is very much the stance of the ODP that once a candidate has won a primary, we should not be criticising them at all. We were also told we didn't need to be making news.

Leadership from ODP told us in our meeting today, our job is to elect candidates. Yup. That's it. "You are the party." As Caucuses, the Pride and Progressive Caucus were told to our faces... that all that matters is getting Dems in to office. Not, advocating for our constituents.

And this is where many supposed allies usually falter. It's easy to say flagrant, accelerating discrimination is bad. It's far harder to accept that one's preconceptions about transitioning are false, and it's really worthwhile to hammer home that they are indeed false.

Trans athletes should be accepted, and should be able to win and succeed just like any other athletes, and a trans athlete winning every so often is not evidence that there's an underlying truth in banning them.

Discrimination against us isn't just bad because the hypothetical issue is tiny. The entire basis people have for believing it is an issue is false. Plenty of people think the bans are too discriminatory but that they are based in "common sense", and that's wrong, and should be pushed back against.

I mean, the science of it is worth getting into. These bans have no scientific backing. Research has mostly failed to show that trans athletes have any real aggregate advantages after a couple years on HRT. If there *were* a large number of trans athletes it wouldn't make the bans correct, either.

The "social contagion" thing drives me screaming angry. When I was young I had no clue trans ppl existed. I'd never met anyone trans. I saw cruel caricatures in pop culture occasionally. When I realized trans was a thing someone could be, it hit like a lightning bolt. My life felt newly possible.

I’m seeing a lot of posts from older women about how they won’t talk or think about Cornell because it’s too painful or the problem is too big to solve. I’m urging you all to remember how you felt as a college student when older women said that to you. Don’t turn your back on the next generation.

*Trigger Warning*As hideous as the Cornell 7 case is, it's even more horrifying that the man who orchestrated it was the supposed friend of the victim, and he texted an *invitation* to this 7-hour gang rape to a group text and not a single member of that chat did anything to intervene.

If you're so innocent, if women trust you, then support them instead of whining about how innocent you are.
