I truly think this is a very helpful case study - everything that is wrong about the current knowledge industry, attention economy, capitalism, union busting, burying the bad news, the feeling of the rug pulled out from under you when you realise the game being played, even a bit of the uncanny

Absolutely the situation here. The 3 out of 12 people who survive (we find out next week, probably) will be faced with teaching departing colleagues’ modules or finding and supporting underpaid hourly staff to do so in 3 weeks’ time. It can’t go well for anyone at all.

So what is the situation with barbecues now? i don't mean to trivialise anything but the thing about sending everyone a one-off alert is that there needs to be some kind of ongoing comms structure to back it up.
