Yes, computers do everything at our company but don't worry, there's always a human reviewer. Nothing goes out the door without one of our highly trained shruggers briefly glancing at it and clicking Approve
Should the economy be regulated by a democratic society to ensure that it creates opportunity and benefit for everyone? Or should it be a plaything for approximately a dozen of the world's most odious assholes? Who knows
God, grant me the courage to change the things I can and incredible new powers to change the things I can't.
One of my favorite cases of someone being Wrong on the Internet was a very earnest, very confused vegan who was telling people how cruel honey is; and it eventually turned out they thought honey was made by putting bees in a centrifuge and spinning them around until they threw up.
if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”
Yes, the Problems are bad, but this is no time for radical things like Solutions

I enjoyed The Odyssey (2026) but I have one historical nitpick. The phrase “Jiminy Christmas” is a minced oath for “Jesus Christ”. As the story is set around 1200 B.C. it is unlikely that Odysseus would have said the phrase even once, let alone the dozens of times he says it in the film
i think it's good to live in a country where one of the two political parties can't read and the other party is copying their homework

Alien: And how did you run out of water? Earthling: Machines drank it. Alien: Machines. Earthling: We had to feed machines the water. Aliens: So the machines were holding your planet hostage for water. Earthling: No, we made the thirsty machines. They worked for us. Alien: End communication.
Here’s how the AI Boom, such as it is, has impacted my life: it has been used as an excuse to lay off my friends for bot equivalents that never came. It has made mass culture and art immeasurably worse. I have a stalker with AI psychosis. So, no, I don’t more data centers. I want less of all that.
Gonna hold on to this croissant metaphor for the rest of my creative life
The source is lost to time, but this is one of the funniest photos ever taken
It feels like the movie scenes AI bros generate are almost always just “what if this IP meets this other IP.” No new concepts or stories. No new world to discover. It almost feels like the ‘00s when companies released games with level designers and everyone just recreated Super Mario Bros. level 1-1
When I was a kid, my grandmother would cut the daily Calvin and Hobbes comic strip out of the newspaper and glue them into a homemade comic book for me. Eventually I would save and save to buy the actual books one at a time, but that first homemade one was pretty special to me.
The final Calvin and Hobbes, which appeared in papers 30 years ago today.
Dear Santa, You didn’t get me the thesaurus I asked for and now I’m mad. You made me really mad. I’m mad at you
