Well, the Minister had the whole day at this and it went so well for him the Taoiseach issued a statement saying he wouldn’t be reversing his Minister.
I can’t stress enough how deliberately insulting this statement is & how irredeemably toxic it will be to his relationship with solicitors. Arguing over money is one thing. This is, politically pointlessly, another thing entirely. Poisoning the well of discussion to play the big man for a headline
I mean, OK. Are we doing all the hits? Is Dev delving condolences on the death of Hitler going to make an appearance? Frankly, this statement provides careless credence to the current SF party’s implausible claim to be the Ship of Theseus version of Arthur Griffith’s party.
good lord haha
I always think about what Mac from Always Sunny said about his transformation
[smugly] I am much older than that.
This book cover makes absolutely no sense.
Rare, unsigned copies will be worth a fortune in years to come...
When Archiseek started, I remember pouring over its Busaras archive and seeing the miserable building for the very first time as it was imagined. It made me realise how eager to degrade the public sphere our cramped, citizen-hostile state was.
An online, and unfunded, encyclopaedia of Dublin's architectural history celebrates 30 years. Archiseek specialises in "unbuilt Irish architectural proposals and lost buildings, giving the public a rare look at 'the Ireland that almost was'", says founder Paul Clerkin.
Or is it because (like literally everything else in this country) the dynamic rates of other markets are reinvented as an actual scam designed to rob people and make no difference at all to the environmental cost, largely thanks to a useless regulator?
I am not paid millions to do this.
I was probably out with my friends
The Minister for Justice must meet his responsibilities for all victims of crime and accused persons. We need a lasting resolution to months of disruption in the courts which have significantly impacted the rights of victims of crime and accused persons. www.iccl.ie/news/justice...
Justice Minister must meet his responsibilities for all victims of crime and accused persons
Months of deadlock must end: Minister must engage in urgent, meaningful talks with solicitors and vindicate the justice rights of all.

The Minister for Justice clearly a man who doesn’t know why cars come with reverse gears.
Is it because the smart meters supplied by ESB have the software disabled such that you cannot use the P1 port? It means a lot of "smart" tech can't be smart. bsky.app/profile/dunc...
Ah - it appears that the ESB smart meters have the P1 port but the software is disabled so not all the balcony solar kits will work here even when they are licensed.... *sigh*. episensor.com/exploring-p1...
The intention is to say the word Rape and associate that word with the solicitors. That’s the only conceivable desired outcome of this statement.
It is because they mostly are so perversely priced that they don’t save money but do increase mental load and hassle. See: www.thegist.ie/the-gist-how...
The Gist: How Smart Is Your Meter?
People are being told to switch to smart meters to save money. Except, something is up with the whole project. This is the Gist.

You would think there ought be some depths the Minister for Justice won't sink to in service of his own ego. But, ah, no
Jim O’Callaghan will tell the Oireachtas Justice Committee that cases of alleged rape are being “deliberately” targeted by the solicitors’ dispute over legal aid. Such cases, before yesterday, could have resulted in a defendant representing themselves and then cross-examining their own complainant.

Minister says public 'entitled to answer' on why solicitors' strike forcing rape trials to adjourn
O’Callaghan will appear before the Oireachtas Justice Committee tomorrow to discuss the ongoing dispute.

One Die Hard oddity I like is at the very beginning, when Hans' gang is coming out of the truck and into the lobby, they're all walking shoulder to shoulder to that one door...leading to one of them having to walk straight into the wall.
When filming Young Frankenstein in the 70’s, Mel Brooks tracked down the original designer for the 1931 Frankenstein (Kenneth Strickfaden) with the intention of politely asking the old man to do a quick consultation on the lab equipment to try to reasonably replicate it...
For me it's "in the final battle most of the Rohan warriors are women with fake beards, because that's who you get when you ask people to show up with their own horses"
Can I just say how quickly the international community got over Orbán losing power? Not a single one of his powerful friends said anything about him since April
Interestingly enough not Hungary
‘Coyote vs. Acme’ has officially surpassed ‘Supergirl’ ($126M) worldwide, making it the summer’s highest-grossing film produced by Warner Bros. But it’s distributor Ketchup Entertainment benefiting from its theatrical release.
So far Korean comedy dramas about lawyers who solve mysteries have a 100% success rate with me. Long may the subtitles flow.
“Officers were responding to a shoplifting call alleging that Wiley’s mother, Vellesiya Wiley, and Latoya Ferrell had stolen a pack of diapers.”
JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.
I’m presuming Jim O’Callaghan will appear before the Oireachtas committee in the appropriate attire befitting the gravity of the situation.
