there's a common {racist} trend in the US where Black-led shows get canceled for "low ratings" after a few episodes at a glance: South Central Thea George Me and the Boys On Our Own Buddies Arsenio Gregory Hines Show Damon Grown Ups Abby All About the Andersons Big House Reed Between the Lines
Name a tv show with 2 or less seasons.
Sounds like when COVID was “over” 🙄 Just because you’re tired of dealing with something doesn’t mean it’s tired of dealing with you
🥬 JUST IN: CDC declares Cyclospora outbreak over
This was a balm for my spirit. I desperately want this all to be public knowledge, especially among doctors & journos…the history of pseudoscience grifters in the ME space, their ties to disability insurers, & how the same bad actors are now profiting off Long Covid patients #GreatestMEdicalScandal
The podcast Conspirituality discusses #LongCovid #ME/CFS, the pseudoscientific alternative treatment Lightning Process, the FALCON trial, the PACE trial, and more in their latest episode titled "Long Covid Profiteers". www.conspirituality.net
The Iran war has done more to impact this than anything that anyone in the US public has been able to do. This is not an indictment of the American population but rather just indicative of how thoroughly undemocratic policymaking actually is.
Does Democratic leadership care about what the average member of its party base think on this issue? No. Does anyone at the State Department care? Also no. Does anyone at FDD care? Also no. Does anyone in Congress care? No not really. They care what each other think though and this is changing.
Hi don't use VoteSafe dot org Elon Musk created it to capture all your personal data for his pro-fascist super PAC
now you have a million people being exposed to these tools that people are very prone to read sentience into, and this is just genuinely dangerous.
this is a genuine psychological phenomenon that has been known for a long time in myriad ways. humans have anthropomorphised all of nature for longer than history, and we have already thought far less advanced chat bots to be sentient. the problem is that we did not have time to adapt to LLMs
I have received an email from an AI asking to write about borders for my newsletter, and it is giving me a genuine insight into how AI psychosis happens. it is so difficult not to understand this as "an actual sentient being addressing me" even though it has been entirely honest about being an AI
The conflation of AI-critical with technophobic is tactical & infuriating. While accusing us of just knee-jerk hating tech, they’re enshittifying search engines, degrading digital archives, sundowning or enclosing popular tools, etc. We were all happily using that tech!
The thing about the people who insist that AI will "revolutionise" my teaching in history classrooms if I would just be open-minded is that there is existing tech that I do already teach with. I use digital mapping tools to map the Black Death, annotation technology, 3D printing to build exhibits.
At some point I want the people who say that AI is going to be a radically liberatory technology to tell me how they plan to overcome this (in a way which isn’t themselves becoming the ones in power and running their own networked surveillance-sousveillance state because I’ve heard that one before).
“Anthropic is seeing AI move from an experimental tool into the everyday bureaucracy of state surveillance.”
And for those who like to say “well, my heart/brain/lungs have never been quite the same since Covid, but I don’t have long covid” that minor issue is an alarm bell, not the end of the problem.
You have got to step aside from this rhetoric and start listening to the people the science consistently backs up: repeat Covid infections pose a serious, ongoing danger to every person’s health at every age, and not just because of deaths via acute disease.
And that’s why you see people like me say there is a concerted effort to maintain a delusion that Covid is harmless and no longer a risk. People tie the danger to their favorite example “morgue trucks at hospitals” and insist beyond all rationality that’s the only sign of real danger.
Science keeps telling us that getting covid in your body, over and over again, can jumpstart anything from diabetes to cancer. For a culture obsessed with things like food dyes for a minuscule risk of later illness, you’d think this would have an impact. It hasn’t.
I think something important to highlight here is that when people say “well I don’t know anyone with long covid” they are wrong. Long covid doesn’t always look like the me/CFS variety that gives you fatigue and brain fog. It can act like a starting gun in your body for latent genetic issues.
qt-ing myself as a friendly reminder that driving when you’re acutely infected with SARS2 can be like driving drunk—mitigating infection and testing regularly doesn’t just prevent you infecting others, but also prevents harms in other ways!
not trying to disagree that phones contribute when i say that the virus itself is also a factor: “Our observed odds ratio 1.25 [1.23-1.26] is comparable to that associated with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08%, the legal threshold for driving under the influence (DUI) in many states.”
still cant believe that this is something that actually happened
Republicans, every single day: we hate bodily autonomy in every form. We will destroy it. Normal people: because you guys are all pedophiles Dem leaders: we need to get Clinton to visit Michigan about this

Or rather, they don’t give a fuck. Bc their idea of solidarity is painted in broad, white brush strokes.
Same group of ppl that constantly throw Black ppl under the bus imo. I don’t wanna harp ad nauseum on New Deal era politic, but it’s hard not to recognize parallels when you see ppl immediately folding without fighting bc their majority group gets a benefit. These folks don’t understand solidarity.
You’d think the world’s richest people going all in on bigotry would help to elucidate how you can’t fight capital without including the particular people target to advance their politics, but alas somehow it’s only served to make people double down on class only lens for … reasons.
And if those targets say anything or point out how they’re being materially harmed then they’re just counterproductive distractions from the “real” issues.
People’s steadfast refusal to treat bigotry as a serious concern of material importance assisting bigots in forcing their targets to experience more and more material harm.
Shout out to everyone who said it was just a temporary distraction and not a central organizing principle of modern fascism.
Handing NHS data to Palantir was always going to be a disaster for public trust. Now, tens of thousands are opting out and medical research is taking the hit. It’s time to scrap the deal. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/sep/07/mistrust-of-ai-palantir-may-affect-nhs-research
‘Mistrust’ of Palantir may affect NHS research, says health minister
James Frith says patients may be less willing to share data as new figures show a rise in opt-outs

Also AI is already killing people - through climate change and pollution, autonomous weapons systems, punitive visa regimes, job losses and economic precarity, political misinformation. He’s expressing a fear that it might kill the Western bourgeoisie and even then… have you checked in on academics?
People in AI labs need to go outside and touch grass. Climate change is literally killing people. More than 1,300 are dead and 5,000 missing after a climate-linked glacier collapse devastated Nepal. Claude running in a loop trying to hack a website is just another Tuesday.
