If I were to hazard a guess, this sounds like a track replacement project like Hulk or Nemesis that the park is trying to spin into a "new" attraction to justify the expense. Sure hope that's the case, Kumba is perfect as it already is. I couldn't imagine those interlocking corkscrews leaving BGT.

Listen. I spent more than a decade as a theatrical technician, rigging stages, hanging lights, flying scenery, etc. The number of times I have dropped anything on a stage with performers on it is zero. The number of times I’ve dropped something that might’ve killed someone is zero. This is major.

So, I'm a former Disney cast member and those numbers sound absolutely unhinged. Wishes, the long running fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, included 683 fireworks and ran for ~13 minutes. Obviously Disney shows include a lot of projections, too, but 850k is four times what they use at MK IN A YEAR.
Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social · last mo.It is new. Trump is trying to break the world record for most fireworks. So they're setting off 850,000 fireworks in the span of 40 minutes. Apparently in a normal year it's like 17,000-20,000 fireworks for this show.
