I think part of why it’s becoming more negative is that more people are “drinking at home” rather than “at the party” so to speak: less forming reciprocal relationships than just sort of passively consuming infinite scroll content.

I think it’s very analogous to alcohol in terms of the social aspect: it’s obviously bad for you in many ways, but it also can be geniunely a meaningful social lubricant that expands your life in positive ways in terms of new relationships and experiences you wouldn’t otherwise have.

finding and trying to establish a real connection btwn my work and audiences has been a part of my job since early web2 times. but i have always noticed that, when my irl community feels strong/supportive i have so little pull to post/social. but whenever i feel more alone social has a pull. fwiw

again: our governor has explicitly warned other dems against attempting this, specifically because, morality aside, *it does not work*, based on his own experience of trying exactly this himself in 2020.

Pay the farmers & the government can’t take the money back if Trump changes his mind. Feed the hungry even for a day & if Trump changes his mind you can’t retrieve the food from their bellies. If Trump changes his mind despite getting his ego fluffed nothing is any worse that it already was.

the problem with this is that trump cannot be relied upon. trump never kept promises or honored bargains even before his brain melted. like, even as a purely pragmatic move, setting the potential morality aside, it's just stupid, because it relies on trusting trump to hold up his end of the deal.
