Love you Kruse- I show this cartoon every year for my immigration unit (turn of the century) sums it up - as well as this one:
In recent weeks, congressmen like Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) and Rep. Michael Rulli (R-OH) have leveled racist attacks against immigrant communities in their districts. As I note in CAMPAIGN TRAILS, a century ago those same racist attacks were being made against people named Emmer and Rulli.
Pulling Up the Ladder
In recent weeks, Republican representatives in Congress have repeatedly insisted that specific groups of immigrants in their communities will never be assimilated into American life, that they pose a ...

One of the biggest labor battles in the US is happening right now in Los Angeles, at USC, where our faculty-union campaign with majority support is being met by nasty, corporate-grade administrative resistance, and national press won't cover it.
There's always some dude who is like "Well, the right got Kavanaugh so why can't we have--" BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT OUR OWN FUCKING KAVANAUGH, ZERO KAVANAUGHS IS ENOUGH KAVANAUGHS.
In all seriousness, one thing that might be worth doing today: Tell your Reps and Senators to call Adm. Richard Correll, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which controls the nation's nukes, and remind him of *his* unique responsibility to refuse an illegal order.
@klobuchar.senate.gov @smith.senate.gov per my voicemails!
Republicans have rolled over, but our Democratic leaders are completely failing us too. This is one of the most dangerous moments for the world in modern history. Stop this bloodthirsty madman. (3/3)
This is the 28th time I’ve posted this classic Doonesbury in the past 10 years.
Whoa, quite a pivot: Trump’s speech tonight will inform the public that we may require the use of ground troops to round up uranium in Iran. -FOXNews
Over the last 36 years, I swore an oath to the US Constitution for 5 different careers. I’ve never sworn allegiance to a person. Or a party. And certainly not to ignorant greedy crooks. My next constitutional oath will be as a lawyer. And then I’ll see these ignorant greedy crooks again. Bet on it
Kristi Noem: "When it gets to Election Day, we've been proactive to make sure we have the right people voting, electing the right leaders to lead this country."
my colleagues at @racketmn.com are raising funds for a local mom who needs help with rent. the total is $4,785—we’re trying to raise $4,000 as a four-person newsroom. i believe racket readers can do it this weekend!!! V: @em-cassel PP: @biketrouble please share widely and donate if you can! 💗✨
tomorrow i would really like to challenge a few folks with larger followings than me to adopt a rent and raise it in one day. my little group chat and my followers have paid like 70 families rents in the past four days. i believe that some of y’all could help us keep one family housed.
No, Cynthia Nixon caused a sensation by appearing in The Real Thing and Hurlyburly at the same time and commuting between them on her bicycle. What Nick Shirley caused was people getting killed. Please make a note of it.
As an influencer, Nick Shirley had struggled to expand his reach. But after a missionary trip pushed him to try a new approach, he caused a sensation with a video claiming to expose fraud at Somali-run day care centers in Minnesota. nyti.ms/45GzJi4
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free

my grandmother, an Auschwitz survivor, was Anne Frank’s neighbor in Amsterdam, and Oma thinks this comparison is perfectly apt
The Minnesota governor is getting widespread criticism for comparing children dealing with immigration enforcement to Holocaust victim Anne Frank.
I have the need to comment this in response to @klobuchar.senate.gov so often I created a macro for it
“And that’s why I will vote to abolish ICE at every opportunity”. This rot cannot be reformed or retrained. You have to start over.
One of the stories that makes me the saddest out of this ICE invasion is one out of the Minnesota Star Tribune today about ICE agents eating at a little Mexican restaurant in the small town of Willmar, Minn, —and then, when they were done, arresting some of the workers.
While the pasty incels who work the federal agencies continue to churn out feeble, bloodless AI pastiches of Axis propaganda, here’s how a living breathing artist powerfully invokes design history. This is by illustrator Emily K in South Philly, a free poster-sized download on her website: →
At last night’s candlelight vigil for Renee Nicole Good, Bishop Rob Hirschfeld of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire announced he had asked the clergy of the diocese to get their affairs in order and to make sure they have their wills written ...,
“I have asked the clergy of the diocese to make sure their affairs are in order and they have written their wills.,not the time for statements. It is time to put our bodies between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable”. Rob Hirschfeld, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire
Again I say into the void: stop saying the ICE officer had no time to think. Time doesn’t start when the drama starts. They drove up. They walked up. They engaged. Stop saying there is only reflex, no thought. If so, stop arming ambulatory startle reflexes & calling them cops
You lying piece of shit. I chaired the Minnesota DFL for all three of your runs here. I watched you lose. Three times. Minnesota never bought your con. And now, as Chair of the DNC, I’m looking forward to ending Trumpism for good in 2028 — not with lies, but with votes. Again.
Trump: "I feel I won Minnesota. I think I won it all three times. Nobody has won it since Richard Nixon won it many many years ago. I won it all three times in my opinion. It's a corrupt state ... I did so well in that state. The people were crying every time after."
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality. And trans lives are grounded in reality. We see y'all. No matter what. www.popsci.com/science/tran...

Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
Ahem @amyklobuchar.com
It's important for prominent Democrats, especially those running for president, to loudly promise they'll throw the full weight of the DOJ into prosecuting illegal acts committed by Trump officials during his administration. If people fear a prison cell, they're more likely to abandon the GOP.
Hey @startribune.com, doesn’t it seem newsworthy that POTUS is reposting Q-anon memes?
Everything is perfectly normal and fine. Nothing to see here.

@amyklobuchar.com per my voicemails…
The thing about a lot of these never Trump Republicans is that, unlike a lot of institutionalist Dems who think the fever will break and we can all return to comity or whatever, these guys saw the rot up close and know the only appropriate response is to tear them out of government root and branch.
Every voter in Illinois’ Ninth deserves to see this and to be able to choose which candidate really has a pro-peace agenda: the person stoking the flames of a US-Iran war (Laura Fine) or the person who has been outspoken against these escalations from the start (Kat Abughazaleh).
“ I support Israel’s right to defend itself against an existential threat from Iran, whose regime leads a terror empire and violates nuclear nonproliferation commitments. Diplomacy has failed to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions. If Israel’s actions delay Iran’s nuclear breakout, we are all safer.
@startribune.com this Minnesotan would like to hear from them, maybe you will have more luck getting a statement because their staffers never answer questions from constituents.
i would like some political reporter - any political reporter - to get one of the following reps on the record about mike lee and bernie moreno's comments: - brad finstad - tom emmer - michelle fischbach - pete stauber both finstad and emmer served with her. ask them what they think of these lies.
