I used to be younger.

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:5-6

I think everyone should see this incredible picture of Dolly Parton: it’s by Stacie Williams (asterosperma on Instagram) and it’s called The Queen of Appalachia

A stunning screenprint image in a style which is part folk art, part religious icon. Dolly Parton sits on a throne-like wooden chair, surrounded by garlands of flowers and leaves. Orange butterflies (I think they are monarchs?) hover around her head. Her hair is huge and golden, and she is wearing a long, sweeping orange gown, which is turned up over her knee to show off her brown knee length high heeled boots. Two black bear cubs play around her, one on the floor and one in her lap. Dolly stares calmly at the viewer. Her right hand is raised in benediction, and in her left she holds a ripe strawberry which she is feeding to one of the bear cubs.

I know there are more important laws that need passing, but I would like a ban on televisions in medical waiting rooms. They drive me insane. I want to scream. OTOH then I would be left with listening to all the annoying conversations going on around me. Can you tell I am cranky today?

Besides being...horrifying?, this is the absolute bullseye of the AI grift. Take something that's free and has always been free -- faith -- and put a price tag on it. If you use any of these tools, you are a sucker, and are being suckered, and the people who make this slop are laughing at you.

This may be a fundamentally new kind of sin blending blasphemy, idolatry, divination, and simony, among others. Those who are not horrified at this may be entirely lacking in authentic religious awareness and feeling.

Pope Leo XIV carried the cross across all fourteen stations for over an hour. The prayers named children who had been “taken away and imprisoned during protests, deported by policies devoid of compassion, shipwrecked on desperate journeys of hope, killed in war zones, and wiped out in death camps.”

Stay frosty, my friends. For it is THE DAY OF LIES. Dipshitted shenanigans abound! Foolish chicanery everywhere! Japes by those people and companies who are very bad at japes! Hide in the dark! Trust no one till the sun has set upon this stupid day!
