The HYPOTHETICAL person you're trying to connect with hates me more than they'll ever trust you. Just speak plainly.
George Floyd was murdered, millions of people concluded that something was fundamentally wrong with American policing, and six years later a prominent figure who once spoke to that anger can casually describe the politics that emerged from it as “Woke 1 was crazy.” That IS anti-blackness to me.
That’s it and that’s all, and journalists who do this are willing accomplices.

I have uncles who are still alive and in their right mind, who grew up in Mississippi and they were right around the same age as Emmett Till. My mother's brothers, who I've spent countless time with. This monstrous crime happened just yesterday.

Reading this made me remember my main reason for preferring Nas to Jay Z: Nas always struck me as a not really smart dude who often stumbles into startling insights, while Jay Z always seemed to be a very smart dude who goes far out of his way to avoid saying anything insightful.

There is certainly an irony to the article’s point that “for the first time since Jim Crow we are witnessing unacceptable violence towards people *other* than Black Americans…”
Leftists love to use transformative policy proposals as a rallying cry, but will suddenly discover their inner pragmatist when the subject turns to transformative policies to specifically address structural racism. Yet they'll also castigate Black voters as insufficiently radical in the process 🤷♂️
Centrists love to trumpet their supposed commitments to representation ("Listen to Black women!!") on the voting trail, but immediately retreat to "Reject ID Politics" while actually governing as a rationalization to continue accepting regressive policies.
It funny because there’s no amount of money that seems to be too much when public safety is framed as hiring and paying more people with guns whereas addressing drug addiction is just too expensive even as we can clearly see the results.
