For the third time this year, we have a post about faculty members fired for challenging their students in ways that made the students uncomfortable. I reflect a bit on the uses of confronting law students with fact patterns that make them uncomfortable. www.contractsprofblog.com/2026/08/firs...

If you told me one year ago that my next big law review paper would be about breastmilk, I would have laughed. Or maybe cried.. I was about three weeks postpartum. In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, I am debuting my draft: Property Rights in Liquid Gold (papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....)
PROPERTY RIGHTS IN LIQUID GOLD: RECOGNIZING BREASTMILK AS PROPERTY
Breastmilk is a highly valued commodity. It is produced, stored, transferred, sold, and, at times, contaminated, stolen, improperly handled, and even lost. Liti

I saw yesterday that some right-wing outlets were running stories about me, which I’m used to. But this time I’m going to say something about it, because these were framed to imply that I was aligned with their own transphobia. ⬇️
So that’s the thing to know, if you’re a tabloid that’s going to name-check me in another round of transphobic shit about Bluesky discourse. I don’t stand with you. I stand with my trans friends and family members. ⏹️
My TV job is apolitical, but I’m proud that one of the things we make is a space that’s trans- and nb-friendly, and that’s not going to change either. ⬇️
Anyone who knows me even a little, or has even followed me long on social media, already knows this about me. Our institutions are literally trying to erase trans people right now, and it pisses me off. A snarky reply to one bad take on Bluesky doesn’t mean that’s changed at all. ⬇️
For the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️
There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.
The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

The more I read about the extremely foreseeable and preventable with proper planning issues which led to the July 2026 Washington Bar Exam getting cancelled, the angrier I get. This is going to harm applicants so so much, financially, career-wise, emotionally, and mentally.
"Dear Applicant, With deep regret, I write to inform you that Washington’s July 2026 administration of the NextGen bar exam has been cancelled. We will not continue tomorrow. . . . We do not have sufficient confidence that the technology issues have been resolved . . . . We sincerely apologize."
I see that it is officially "Im panicking, the summer can't be nearly over, what do you mean the semester begins again, I haven't finished what I had planned, I need a time machine" time of the year

Altman is a lying con artist with zero scruples. Also, have these people never read or seen a single story about a genie? They always trick you and twist your wishes into something bad.
“What we need to explain to the world: Number one, we are close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. Number two, we are going to make sure that our first wishes broadly benefit humanity” - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI — This is definitely the opposite of Anthropic’s AI kills all jobs pitch.
⚖️🤓 For decades, climate politics has shaped climate law. But something is changing: increasingly, the law is reshaping what is politically possible on #ClimateChange & it’s doing so because of the #PeoplePower behind it. Read more in our latest blog: www.ciel.org/how-climate-...
And for everyone, I am not saying that the elections *will* be compromised, but at this point with the Trump Administration, I am like Sansa Stark with Peter Littlefinger: when I am trying to figure out people’s motives, I assume the worst.
Last month @thefordon.bsky.social, @jenwon.bsky.social, and I got to present at CALI Con on vibe coding for Legal Ed., and the video just went live. Enjoy. Note: this is partially a behind the scenes look at how I made some of the simulations for my algos & bias lesson (quoted thread).

I am not sure how @reichlinmelnick.bsky.social stays on the immigration beat, but it is getting grimmer. We should say—you know what—send people back to Guatemala and Haiti—is objectively horrible, and the glee by which the Trump Administration views this prospective, as evil.
Ugh. Just awful. Unclear what happened here but the implication I get from the article is that they’d fallen into deep debt and maybe owed money to some very bad people. And once they’d been deported, paying that money back was probably very very hard.
The big tell on this has always been that the plexiglass lockups largely don't exist in white suburbia.
