Evidence-based medicine, ethics of uncertainty, medical ethics, professional ethics, drug policy ethics, and the ethics of advocacy. Anesthesiologist. Pediatric palliative care. Being kind is an act of defiance.

The closure of consumption sites in ON contributes to these spikes. Using in a safe environment reduces risk (people can go low and slow) and many overdoses are managed without a trip to the ER. Closures in Red Deer AB led to spikes in ambulance calls. Politicians don’t seem to care.

Opioid deaths are down but emergency calls are spiking. Inside the mystery leaving Ontario paramedics ‘flying blind.’ A street drug that defies traditional overdose responses is adding to the strain on hospitals, by @omarmosleh.bsky.social www.thestar.com/news/gta/opi... via @thestar.com

The UCP and their reduction of red tape only serves corporations...not everyday Albertans. This license fiasco is a great example. My son is still waiting for his license and health card replacement to be mailed to him ....3 weeks and waiting....

I truly believe that Universal Health Care, and having the Canada Health Act enforced is worth fighting for. I don't care about Danielle Smith having a conniption. Are we so weak that we're just going to lose our fight for climate justice and Universal Health Care because of Dani and the Seppos?

If your face didn’t look like this in 2020, I don’t really care what you think about Dr Fauci. That man saved millions of lives. We did what we could with the information we had. Florida opened back up too soon, and nearly 100,000 people died, one of highest death rates per capita in the nation

I remember the day I had to run to the ICU to do a slash tracheostomy at 1 am on a COVID positive patient with multi-organ failure and airway obstruction. I remember the fear and confusion. I remember the helpers and the teamwork.

“Alberta should stop claiming this policy mirrors Germany, Switzerland, Japan, or South Korea. It does not. Alberta is not following an established international model. It is conducting a policy experiment with well-documented harms and unproven benefits.” edmontonjournal.com/opinion/colu...

Opinion: Alberta's preventive health testing isn't like Japan or Europe: It's a risky experiment

Alberta is introducing a fundamentally different approach from the systems it invokes.

AB - this is how we treat our seniors! Pt in late 60s, confused/delirious from an infection. Needs admission. INT med says admit to Fam Med bed, except no beds in hosp. Pt waiting >48hrs in a recliner CHAIR in the ED for transfer - no dignity, privacy, very little care. 1/2

“We know what prevents deaths of people cycling, it’s the same thing that will shift people from ‘interested but concerned’ to choose cycling: high-quality cycling infrastructure like protected bike lanes. The only thing standing in the way of us having that is political will…” Via @cyclehalifax.ca

Cycling infrastructure saves lives - The Coast | News, events, restaurants, concerts and Burger Week for Halifax, Nova Scotia

When I opened Instagram on Monday night and saw the screenshot saying that a person cycling had been killed in Halifax, I felt deeply sad, but I was also angry. Many people I know and care about have ...

This reads more like a government press release than balanced journalism. Where are the independent addiction medicine experts, researchers, and human rights advocates to add a voice? To climate deniers: You said it was a hoax when 18M hectares burned in Canada in 2023. You ignored it when 2025 became Norway's hottest year ever. Now forests above the Arctic are burning while Canada's smoke reaches Europe. At what point will you reflect?
