Bessent crossed the line in attacking a journalist for covering someone in an office the government has no authority over. And in doing so, simply underscores the fact that people think that line of demarcation has dangerously blurred.

I now average like, 1 new email per hour. And it's stuff I (usually) want to see. And I have to deliberately set aside time to go to my "newsletters" tag and mindfully comb through it. Night and day difference in my stress level when I open my inbox.

Tip for fellow journalists, this has made my life so much better: Over the past week or so I have invested something like 10 hours in unsubscribing from everything possible, blocking all press flacks that send me stuff unrelated to my beat, and setting up an auto-filter for newsletters. 1/2

The decision to make communication by the Fed Chair more opaque has increased rather than decreased the significance/impact of Fed beat reporters. The quickest way to reduce their significance/impact is for the Chair to speak more explicitly & frequently. You gotta choose!

... especially when you can argue Warsh needs to show independence from the administration. 3. But most important, I hope this is not an early sign of the migration of the toxic relationship between the press corps and the White House over to the Fed.
