Stuck in the rut caused by the grind. I wanna write comedy for a living. He/Him #RetroGaming #ViewAskew #Goonie

Midnight Landing at Chitose Airport. Simple but effective (and quite beautiful) graphics that go some way the experience some realistic atmosphere, boosted in this enhanced version on Sharp X68000 by a sharper UI and control tower speech. 📺: The Cockpit, Compac Inc, 1988.

A gameplay screenshot of The Cockpit. A colourful HUD with various commercial aircraft functions such as speed and altitude and a heading bar can be seen around the dots of light picking out a runway and the nighttime landscape of buildings that's quite beautiful.

In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...

This is my favorite retro game con, they put out the good stuff, and it's in a funky air and space museum. I'll be there lecturing, projecting slides into a giant IMAX theater showing Nintendo's abandoned attempt NES as a home lottery system. Later I will sip beer and play Barbie Fashion Designer.

Import retro games are more than just foreign exclusive titles, they’re completely different experiences like a rapid-fire light gun Famicom game found only in Japan as seen here with @frankcifaldi.bsky.social of VGHF. Check out the Retro Import showcase this week, Aug 7-9 at LI Retro. LIRetro.com

Long day at the Vintage Computer Festival so will post updates tomorrow. One of my favorite pickups today is this WOPR 1U panel that's perfect for the empty slot on my server rack. It has audio out and plays the droning sound along with the light show. Shall we play a game?

A 1U high panel in a server rack. 3/4 of the panel from the left to right are grids of tiny LEDs with a lighting pattern that matches that of the WOPR computer from War Games. Text labels are accurate to what's on screen and the blinking pattern is modeled after the film. On the right is the WOPR War Operation Plan Response logo. Underneath the panel is a wireless keyboard on a shelf and below that is the top of an FM Towns Marty. On top of the rack are a sheath of NFC cards with Toe Jam & Earl visible in front. An NFC reader shaped like a Commodore floppy drive. an 8Bitdo controller and a SNAC adapter. Behind that is a Checkpoint LCD 4:3 monitor and in the far background on the left you can see a bit of the NBA JAM ball model used for creating the cover art for the console releases.
