when a progressive politician in the US refuses to engage with culture war nonsense and sticks to the issues in an interview you get people saying "centrist dems, take note! here's how you answer this question" & yeah they already know sadly. they like the right-wing setting the agenda

The insane thing about the debate about Democrats supporting trans rights is that it supposes that trans rights are a weight on the campaign, but the Democrats already have a massive anchor on their campaign which is continuing support for Israel.

sorry, but torturing the omelas kid is just a smart move, polling-wise. i personally wish there wasn't a kid in the omelas hole--of course i do!--but let's not get distracted by purity tests, here.

Got 'em: The @thebulwark.com added an editor's note to the review, acknowledging that the author's direct affiliation with the Foundation for American Innovation ("the foundation shaping the tech right," according to Inc.) created a conflict that should have been forthrightly disclosed.

Editor's note from Bulwark: 1
Editor’s note (September 3, 2026, 1:10 p.m. EDT): In a response to this review posted to social media, Gil Durán, author of The Nerd Reich, has highlighted that the reviewer, Jacob Bruggeman, is affiliated with the Foundation for American Innovation (FAI). Durán mentions FAI in his book, once, in a sentence that reads as follows: “This merging of tech and far-right networks—hosted by the Foundation for American Innovation, which Inc. later described as ‘the foundation shaping the tech right’—seemed like a live test of [Balaji] Srinivasan’s theory.” Bruggeman’s affiliation with FAI is an unpaid, nonresident fellowship (in other words, it is not his day job), and while it was mentioned in his byline beneath this review, we should have made a point of additionally disclosing it in a footnote like this.

Someone finally wrote a bad review of my book! Its argument: The tech bros are not fascists and we need not worry about them. Its author: a fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation (FAI). FAI's ideological godfather and treasured idol: Peter Thiel. 🫠

I’m sure most of you aren’t watching the US Open right now which means you missed this instantly iconic moment, now available in gif form

Energizing win for (any team playing against Falcons). You really hope to see (any team playing against Falcons) have strong showings, especially against opposition like this. Again, it was a good match, and I’ll definitely continue to support (any team playing against Falcons) in the future.

i think my favorite kind of political wonk is the “centrist guy whos job is paying attention to politics but doesn’t understand anything”, easiest gig in the world. collect money from wealthy elite and just write “this just doesn’t make any sense!” articles every week
