The Waymo cars I've seen aren't wheelchair accessible, and if there isn't a driver, then how are wheelchair users supposed to use them without sacrificing their independence?

Literally have all of these. When it’s your normal, you try not to think about how overwhelming it all is, but when you see it as a list…it’s wild to think so many of us combat all of this daily and have for years…

I thought I would repost this to highlight again some of the many varied symptoms that can be found in #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis / #ChronicFatigueSyndrome Particularly relevant when similarities with the #LongCovid presentation in some people are being missed #MEcfs #CFS #PwLC 1/

APPENDIX 2. ME/CFS Symptom Prevalence and Severity (These prevalence and severity figures are from A definition-based analysis of symptoms in a large cohort of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome, P. De Becker, N. McGregor, and K. De Meirleir. Journal of Internal Medicine 2001;250:234-240.) A total of 2,073 consecutive patients with major complaints of prolonged fatigue were assessed. Among them 1,578 met the Fukuda criteria and of those, 951 met the Holmes criteria. The figures indicate the differences in prevalence and severity of symptoms between these patient groups.

4) For example, if participants reported PEM but had remained neatly within their allowance, then it means the limit was too high and needs to be reduced. Curiously, they also adjusted the limit if patients did not report PEM for three consecutive weeks.

1) Had a closer look at this randomised trial on pacing from earlier this year. It tested an app, warning system, and wearable device to help Long Covid patients pace, but unfortunately, it didn't have an effect on post-exertional malaise (PEM) and other symptoms.

NICE sound complacent requiring more evidence before a real shift in practice. However in some guidelines the evidence is labelled poor quality and yet they accept practitioner opinion (Hypothyroidism). As usual more funding required to prevent the most prevelant cancer in women.

Breast cancer checks missing lots of at risk younger women, says study

Up to 95% of younger women who are at higher risk of developing breast cancer are being missed by current NHS checks, researchers warn.

Course you would, “love”… And Brexit will suddenly be amazing. And climate change will go away. And Trump will give us the bestest trade deal ever. And voters will love you for scrapping their rights, to please your moneyed mates… Now, pipe down and focus on your upcoming fight with a bin.

If women wore smart glasses, they'd be banned. (soigomaa/x) Think about it. If millions of women wore smart glasses, recording men's behaviour, conversations, comments, their driving & bar chats ... can you imagine the panic? Trust me, smart glasses would be regulated before you can say 'Meta'.

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

Whenever I hear people saying that figures who were vile in public, and actively made life worse for other people through their actions or words, were kind in private, I think that they should have applied themselves to greater consistency across all areas of their lives.

People are complaining that for two hours in the early morning on one single day, the Exploratorium in San Francisco will require respirator masks. Never mind that this allows disabled and immune compromised kids to safely share in something they’re otherwise excluded from. Fuck them kids.

The medical guidance on dealing with Covid has never changed for immunocompromised or high-risk people. It has always been to wear a mask in crowded and indoor spaces. People will literally yell at kids with cancer and the rest of polite society goes “oh well, personal responsibility…”

Who did benefit from air filtration fitted at work to address the Covid risk? Schools, nurseries, care homes and all healthcare settings you suggest? To protect the most vulnerable as early as the science told us it was needed. No, the government were the only ones whose workplace was adpated.

But if we’re doing policy, let’s talk about January and February 2020, when Britain could have controlled the spread of Covid. Let’s talk about public health experts BEGGING for masking and air filtration and being told not to infringe people’s right to infect others.

On a simple moral level: hey. Guess what? We are, as a country, doing next to nothing to help people whose lives were burned down during the pandemic lockdowns. We are doing very little for Long Covid, for trauma. We are also AFAIK possibly even less prepared for a pandemic now than we were in 2020.

JCVI "Members considered that in the absence of vaccination, future generations would be exposed to COVID-19 in childhood, with a relatively mild disease. This early infection would then provide protection against severe disease throughout life. Circulation of COVID-19 in childhood could..."

" the JCVI declined to recommend the COVID vaccine to all children between 12 and 15 years old, saying that the benefits were only “marginally greater than the potential known harms”, and the margin was “too small to support universal Covid-19 vaccination for this age group at this time”. "

Do you know how often my dreams revolve around the idea that I have missed a portion of my life? That people I love have straight up forgotten me? I am not a horror writer, and yet these feelings are so deeply unsettling that I am quite literally writing gothic horror about it.

“Oh no staying home was traumatic” Sure. Now imagine being forced to stay home for 3.5 years while also being too sick to move AND the world moves on without you. I know which I’d have rather dealt with.
