I have come around to the idea that the Mamdani thing was as much about intra NYC grudges and residual loyalty to Cuomo as it was Mamdani's ethnic and religious identity to be fair, which would make it somewhat sui generis, but but it does leave a sour taste in one's mouth if you are Muslim lol
#StupidSuez@diplomatofnight.com · 5h agoMust admit that I don't really understand what it is about Mamdani that made Schumer deem him essentially persona non grata. (I do get that El Sayed is a *senatorial* candidate, so the stakes for Schumer are more direct).
I fundamentally do not know how to square the politics whereby Democrats will essentially have to tell the American people that because they (the voters) made an extremely stupid decision, they need to lower their expectations substantially for the foreseeable future, but here we are.

Yup! I think it's also meaningful that both AES and Stevens overperformed with the groups they were supposedly weak with and underperformed with the groups they were supposedly strong with. And I actually think that's a real sign of party health.
What works in the Midwest is clearly a moderate CIA operative who will threaten your dog if you stalk her and also a nice Muslim doctor with big arms. Simple.

if establishment candidates want to start winning primaries again all you have to do is say that rich people have too much money and that youll prosecute trump admin staffers and republicans that have broken the law
i should add- breaking the collarbone of a baby who is the granddaughter of a REPUBLICAN US SENATOR is not a bridge too far for republicans. max miller is the villain in this story but bernie moreno looks like a feckless loser, allowing his party to carry on this way. what a pathetic bunch.
