the Gordian knot of the 'everything is expensive' thing is that some of the main cost drivers are the spiraling cost of healthcare, education, & housing, which are genuinely squeezing the middle class to some extent. guess what two sectors large swathes of them work in, and how they build wealth?

it's a little strange to me how many people simultaneously think all consumer prices and layoffs are the result of pure corporate greed and also that corporations would never raise prices or fire workers as a result of tax policy

A jury just found that those features are harmful 🤷 It's not conjecture that the apps are harmful, and not just to children. If there's a lack of studies identifying which specific features are most harmful, there's probably a reason for that. Meta will just have to deal.

Really? Because I keep seeing them in charge of everything from car dealerships to the White House, and they seem to doing just fine despite their obvious handicaps.

This is ableism with a nice dose of sexism thrown in - see the specific “young women” accusation, ignoring the fact that variable illnesses such as ME are far more common in women and making it sound as if women are more inclined to fakery.

As I've said since the beginning of this nightmare, transphobia is inextricable from ableism. They are the same mechanism producing the same results for the same reason. Any disabled people throwing their lot in with transphobes are sowing the seeds of their own destruction.
