Kind of funny that the UK Supreme Court is less than 20 years old and that opponents of creating it argued that the SC would arrogate superlegislative powers above what prior appellates had. Which is literally how this happened lol

Is there a better summary of reactionary grievance politics than finding out that most people haven't heard of a song you like and immediately having to imagine that this is because they're persecuting people like you?

I find it infuriating that nations who for decades have profited off the exploitation of immigrant labour, who have indeed engineered the conditions for that exploitation through making the countries of origin nigh unliveable, now dare to turn around and call migrants a drain. Absolutely maddening.

I'm no Obama fan but this strikes as kind of trivially true. Bare policy doesn't motivate people, and why would it? Like yeah of course there needs to be political communication, there needs to be explanations of why things matter, and you can't just publish policy papers

Not just that he facilitated a genocide and failed to stop a fascist from being reelected, but that it seems like a pretty straightforward argument that he chose to continue to facilitate a genocide while knowing it would likely hand power over to that fascist. The two are linked.

As a trans person I'm actually really excited about this because it's been clear for years now that publishing fully debunked pseudoscience and lavender scare slop wasn't going to meaningfully damage the NYT's reputation among elites, but if they keep doing gauche faux pas like this that might do it

Really worth a read! I think this is especially interesting given the prevalence and power of international disinformation networks. The keyboard warrior as a node of the greater fascist internationalism power structures is maybe a useful way of thinking about them.

After a few months of living the AI native lifestyle, I now believe the default state is that it makes you worse at your job overtime as you understand less and hand off more thinking to AI. You’re more productive but it takes a lot of effort for your work quality not to drop precipitously.
It's actually pretty impressive how the US food safety system has basically been taking a series of devastating head blows through budget cuts and brain drain, but we're still getting a lot of recalls which very much indicates things are working ok still

Even if you don't consider yourself a radical you should be reading CrimethInc's output. Being skeptical of authority and social pressures is something one has to practice in order to do it when it matters most, whether that means being the person who stops the car to help to resisting ICE.
