many "centrists" agree with Cofnas and when they complain about "wokeness" and "political correctness" they often mean that they are not allowed to express this stupid idea — that black people in smart-guy jobs shouldn't be there and should be like, sprinters and jazz musicians instead — explicitly

The "party of personal responsibility" has never once taken responsibility for their views, shifts, actions. They have no agency. Dems always make them do it.

"you made us do this with your frightful excesses" has been Republican messaging since at least the period when Nixon ran against civil rights, feminism and hippies - longer than my middle-aged lifespan. this pretense is a willful insult to the intelligence of the reader.

All true, and yet, GOP wins, and they destroy trans people. Look at Kansas and driver's licenses. It's not better for trans people to have the GOP win. (GOP winning also does not teach the Dems the lessons you want to teach them.)

True but also some of their buddies got MeToo’ed and that terrified them; they could give a hoot if ICE uses its torture glove on the rest of us, or if they are now internment camps in the USA. Doesn’t affect them like Charlie Rose getting cancelled.

I think part of the pundit crack-up has been that they missed the big call of their lifetimes about which was the bigger threat to America: wokeness or authoritarianism. And rather than admitting that, they are doubling down on wokeness, while ignoring an authoritarianism that does not threaten them
