V. v. grateful to all the dudes who each left 10+ paragraphs of enthusiastic praise for the weird lit book i was considering Gentlemen, your enthusiasm has thoroughly dissuaded me, thank you for your service, may we never be on the same page

Just your regular reminder that: 1) Almost everyone has an underlying health issue if you look hard enough 2) People with underlying health issues don't deserve to die for eating lettuce 3) We should be strengthening, not weakening our regulatory processes. And properly funding them.

Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.

I've mentioned in the past that I sponsored a local female race car driver and put pro-library messages on the car. They did a "pit party" where kids could come through, see the cars, etc. Andrea got book stickers made so all the kids could sign her car. Truly some of my best library outreach work.

Hood of a white stock car. It has a woman in a purple superhero outfit with a cape flapping. The car reads NO BOUNDARIES. NO LIMITS. KNOW YOUR LIBRARY. There are many small stickers that look like open books on it which are signed by kids.Back of a white stock car used for racing. It says BURN RUBBER NOT BOOKS. White people y'all ready to not be cool with other white people? Because that's what it really takes. You have to accept that when you get woke you don't fit into that world of ignorance as well anymore. That discomfort you've chosen is you risk you took on. Bucking against the norm is unpopular.

I just ordered materials for a silly project I’ve been planning since 1985. My closest friends were good sports when I wouldn’t shut up about it for 20+ years. It’s been a long walk from 1985 to here. Every one of those friends has died. There’s only me here to celebrate. Make your silly stuff 💜

Why would a woman try to appease a scary man whom she is legally bound to for many years to come, by virtue of a helpless child whom he has access to and could harm in retribution at any time? Why would she offer empanadas to such a man? Truly perplexing.

Things I and friends have done to calm an angry abusive man from further escalating and killing us or our children: -Smiled -Kept normal schedules in order not to trigger a fight -Appeased with kind acts (cooking, cleaning, favors) -Forced friendly tones and words
