Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Just 4 months after the local elections, Reform UK (RefUK) have lost 158 of their local councillors: -55 resigned -42 went Independent -28 defected -24 were kicked out -5 lost their seats -2 disqualified -2 suspended. Appalling record - and a waste of taxpayers’ money!

I simply don’t grasp the desire to compromise one iota with people like this. They have no desire to compromise with us, or with their clueless enablers and fellow travellers. They will not be merciful or understanding if they win. Every inch we give is a victory for them. Enough already, now.

Last week we were in Germany. They are well aware of the similarities between what happens in the US and what happened in WWII. We saw someone who wore a shirt with the text: "Wer in der Demokratie schläft, wacht auf in der Diktatur." “Those who sleep in democracy, will wake up in a dictatorship.”

So, over in the bad place, the village idiots have found a new community to target to shout at, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Tilford. While I really don't want to give oxygen to these sad, angry losers, I want to show my support to the Ahmadis who I've worked closely with for years.
