#SDCC comic con: our daughter left her 3D printed black dragon in the restroom near E/Starbucks. She printed it herself and is devastated. We checked the restroom and lost and found which means someone picked it up. If you bring it to 5552 I will give you a signed comic as reward

Something to note just about the funny weirdness of time: DKR came out in '86, Year One in '87. Burton Batman began preproduction in '88, which means the classics of the medium Keaton was using to study were basically brand new at the time.

One of today's political prisoners. Cartoonist & zine maker Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada wasn't even at the ICE protest. He was accused of "moving" a box of anti-Trump zines THE NEXT DAY. A rightwing judge sentenced him to 30 years! Just for possessing zines. The darkness is descending.

A cartoonist named Daniel "Des" Rolando Sanchez Estrada was tried as a terrorist and sentenced to 30 years in prison for having anti-Trump comics in his car. Prosecutors connected him to a 2025 anti-ICE protest he didn't even attend because he was in the same book club as others who were.

The profound part of Juneteenth for me is that before this was made a holiday, there was no official celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. When the 13th Amendment passed in December 1865, the legislators who witnessed its enshrinement imagined that the day would be remembered.

Somewhere in the list of things for the next administration to do beyond prosecuting everyone in the present administration and restoring the White House as-was, I'd like to see the word "homeland" removed from all governmental uses and, if possible, from the English language altogether.

EXACTLY. As I’ve been saying, the tech industry suffers from a humanities deficit. It doesn’t grasp the fields. It lacks the knowledge they provide, which would properly shape their thinking about AI and its impact.

Another big disconnect in the AI debate is academics/AIbros/AI pushers assuming they understand the methods, theories, debates, and philosophies of disciplines they are not trained in, and appear to have no desire to understand, but are POSITIVE gAI is necessary to those disciplines, nonetheless.
