Our people deserve representatives who will put Western North Carolina first, not ignore us while they misbehave in D.C. My heart goes out to the young women who took roles with Congressman Edwards' office in the wake of his withdrawal from this race.

This campaign has never been about any one person. It’s always been about Western North Carolina and our communities getting the leadership and representation we deserve. That has not changed.

For too long, we’ve been forgotten by politicians who sell us a false bill of goods, then go to Congress to treat D.C. as their personal playground while we get left behind. My heart goes out to the young women who took these roles to serve our community.

No matter who we face in November, I’m confident we can win this race and deliver what I’ve been talking about since day one: Hurricane Helene recovery, lower costs, and an end to the corruption in Washington.

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]

Hey, I caught a meteor in a bottle last night! 🧪📷 I'm doing nightly sky surveys in fussy preparation for the Perseid meteor shower which peaks later this month. Hopefully will be great. Imaging details in ALT.

An astrophotograph of stars inscribing white arcs encircling Polaris against a jet-black background of sky, slashed by the horizontal line of a meteor. Its trail is rainbow-colored, beginning blue-green and ending red. This image is constructed from a tight crop of an image formed by stacking 500 individual images, each a 3-second exposure at 5-second intervals, looking north from northern Durham County NC. 20mm f/1.8, ISO 500, 3 sec x 500

Cool, cool: FDA lists 10 ongoing food-borne illness outbreaks in the U.S., including 3 involving Cyclospora (2 not yet linked to products), 3 Salmonella (1 eggs, 2 unknown), 2 Listeria (1 ricotta cheese, 1 unknown), 1 E coli (blueberries), 1 Clostridium (infant formula). www.fda.gov/food/outbrea...

Investigations of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks

The following is a list of outbreak and adverse event investigations primarily being managed by FDA’s CORE Response Teams.

Kudos to Oura for having a fair warranty and helpful tech support folks. But BOO for having "no available slots" to schedule a phone call...chat-based support sucks and is ableist. We tried a long litany of potential fixes, including "bang it on a table top." 🫠

Oura ring's process for factory reset w/o app: Place ring on charger. Wait 2 sec. Flip 180°. Wait until the LED turns blue. Flip again. Wait until LED turns red. Flip again & again & again for magenta, yellow, and blinking blue. 🙃 No dice. Ring's dead. But still under warranty!

A huge Meta data center in Louisiana feasting on clean air, precious water, electricity and peace and quiet to produce literally nothing but money.

Many of us who’d been on the front lines during the pandemic, volunteered to administer the vaccine in places like this. We’d all lost loved ones, including our own colleagues. I took this picture in spring of 2021. The emotion was palpable. Lives were saved on days like this. Thank you, Dr Fauci.
