The civility police coming for how I respond to a non-thinking, non-feeling, machine is absolutely mind-blowing. If you cannot see how this is doing the work of corporations to continue the assault on human dignity by granting them rights that don't belong to them, I don't know what to do.

"You hired half the Third Reich to staff your office ... If John Lewis were marching today, Mike Collins would be grabbing a billy club" -- here's a supercut of Jon Ossoff SMASHING Mike Collins during tonight's debate

If this isn’t blatant viewpoint discrimination, then I don’t know what is. “The Office of the Provost rejected 57 of 77 applications from the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis to retain core curriculum status for the 2027-28 academic year . . . 1/2 thedailytexan.com/2026/09/24/u...

Texas legislators and universities can’t claim to support viewpoint diversity while endorsing viewpoint discrimination. Genuine intellectual diversity requires allowing competing perspectives—even unpopular ones—to be expressed, examined, and debated.

The rush to accuse, without anything approaching due diligence, artists of using "AI," should be treated with contempt. An artist gets their work *ripped off* to train a plagiarism machine, which then shits out inferior versions of that work, so then you accuse the artist of using "AI"? Fuck you.

Kasey Gifford@kaseygifford.bsky.social · last wk.

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

PLEASE ask me for my article! It's always a thrill to know that someone wants to read it, and I hate that knowledge is gatekept like this. Not only do we not get paid if you pay the fee, but we have to pay the journal thousands of dollars for the "privilege" of making it open-access (not paywalled)

Have you ever tried to read a scientific journal article and been told “you don’t have access, pay to download this article?” Did you know that the author of that article gets $0 if you pay? Instead, you can email the author and ask for a free copy! I’d be delighted to help and answer questions!

"...calling a text extruded from an LLM a ‘history’ is, quite literally, a category error. There are far too many deliberations, choices, and cares in the production of a history for it to be something statistically generated, a mere algorithmic derivative." #NoAIintheclassroom #skystorians

'History is a Human Craft'. In piece about ethics, our classrooms and AI, I suppose I've put up my barricades and drawn my lines. I suggest 8 'considerations' before we do any teaching with AI. This is part of a new @royalhistsoc.org short series on 'AI and History Teaching' in Transactions.

A real problem with concerns about oil prices spiking even more than they already have is that people cannot do anymore to mitigate increased costs. There's already been mass layoffs, SNAP cuts, plus higher energy and food prices. The unnecessary US-Canada trade war. People are exhausted.

Trans rights is inherently a bodily autonomy issue. Just like abortion rights is. We can't have gender equity or reproductive freedom without trans rights. Full stop. You can yell at me and make up shit that you claim I've said if it makes you feel better. I don't care. I'm right. And you know it.

I just hear @sonjadrimmer.bsky.social's permission structure in this. It's corporate greed, consolidation, & control that is killing us. Here we are wasting f-ing time discussing if the gadget is alive, debating toys instead of the men holding the remote controls while they steal & wreak havoc.

Is AI going to kill us all in 10 years? Discussions of AI doom or existential risk are complicated because they often serve as marketing or excuses for regulatory capture for the biggest AI companies. @emanuelmaiberg.bsky.social breaks it down. Watch more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMNB...

the mold whispering into JK Rowling's subconscious: "you should put on your website a list of every mean thing you think anyone's ever said about you just in case someone doesn't know you're in the Epstein files"

JK Rowling putting up a disclaimer about having mold in her castle in the FAQs section of her website is satisfying. She was so bothered about the mold she learned how to blur her backgrounds, now this. Bullies are such pathetic creatures.
