I tend to notice from my personal POV that the lack of far-right lunatics on Bluesky makes the environment clearer, which helps you with spotting left-wing lunatics much better and gives the impression there's a lot of them here.
People saying that Bluesky is a “leftist bubble” suggests that people don’t know what the word “leftist“ means.
It took several days to say something that's not a sloppy wreck of Spain-bashing populist nonsense: www.consilium.europa.eu/en/meetings/...

The past few years have been an explicit test of two theories of how to win back AfD voters: first, the CDU just needed to pivot to the hard right under Merz and second that the Linke as a party was too woke and needed to turn to workerist anti-migrant nationalism via BSW. Both failed.
The latest poll for Saxony-Anhalt has the far-right at 41%. If some of the smaller parties (SPD, Greens, BSW) don't clear the threshold to enter parliament, the far-right may gain an absolute majority in September.

Thanks to @msf.org for thoroughly documenting Russia’s systemic attacks on health workers and facilities in 🇺🇦Ukraine. No less than 3204 attacks took place btw February 2024 and June 2026, demonstrating the magnitude of 🇷🇺Russia’s deliberate violations of International Humanitarian Law #IHL #Ukraine
In Ukraine, attacks on the medical system are impacting people's ability to seek care, and medical staff’s ability to provide it.
International incidents drag a cohort of loud & ignorant takes claiming that it is *foreign power I hate* that's behind it. It's either incapacity to distinguish between responsibility in an incident and indirectly benefitting from it, or it's just blanket prejudice and obnoxiousness.
When you hear of an incident between foreign countries, a good rule of thumb is to start with it likely has local causes. Spain and Morocco have their own shit. It’s not a dastardly (((globalist))) plot to make Europe less aryan, nor a dastardly Zionist plot to get Spain back for verbal criticism.

Solidarity is the EU's greatest strength In their haste to capitalize on anti-immigration sentiment, European centre-right politicians have strengthened MAGA/Russian propaganda and undermined the very asset that protects them as a unit
When an EU member is in trouble, esp if instigated from outside, as for Spain in Ceuta, solidarity should be the only EU response. Far-right reactions is yet more proof there’s no “moderate” far-right, only different ways far right forces seek to dismantle European integration

France has at least 6 or 7 metropolitan areas with more than 1 million people. Portugal has 2. Belgium has 2 as well - they probably counted the City of Brussels (+/- 200 000) as a separate entity, which makes as much sense as saying that London has 9 000 residents.
How Many Cities Over 1 Million People Does Each Country Have? Sort of crazy that Canada and Australia have more than the UK. Or that Russia has more than the US. Full list: brilliantmaps.com/cities-ov...
We should stop talking of "Europe" and "Brussels" like its a monolith and see the concrete coalitions and networks of power. The EU is not an anthropomorphized entity but institutions filled with political actors
The EPP dominates the institutions of the EU in a de facto coalition with ECR. It has every desire to see PP in power and PSOE removed. Who are the people attacking Sanchez most? M - EPP. FI - EPP. PO - EPP
Looks like 22 EU leaders need an urgent course on understanding and handling hybrid warfare. "United we stand, divided we fall." #StrongerTogether🇪🇺 @eucopresident.consilium.europa.eu @kajakallas.bsky.social @teresaribera.ec.europa.eu @andriuskubilius.ec.europa.eu www.politico.eu/article/ceut...
There's so much talk about societal resilience, crisis preparedness etc by European governments But the same governments immediately enter panic mode after a single incident like this
I’m not the only one suggesting that Ceuta might have been a case of migrant weaponization: “It is impossible for nearly 50,000 people to cross the border between Morocco and Spain in a single day without Morocco having a hand in it.” Lorenzo Gabrielli, Pompeu Fabra University.+
I tried to summarise it but I couldn't shrink it down to a proper post size, so I'll just paste this screenshot.
Sounds like the sort of thing that those splitters in the Judean People's Front would bitch about.

The European response to the #Ceuta crisis will go down in history as an own goal that emboldened Europe’s adversaries. Instead of showing solidarity, Italy & co sought to punish it. Now, with the vast majority of arrivals already returned, the failure wasn’t border control but European solidarity.
The speed with which several EU national governments called for suspending the Schengen agreement provisions towards Spain & condemned 🇪🇸 govt rather than displayed solidarity w/ another EU member shows that scoring domestic political points remains the priority, even in an emergency like this.
The real issue on Ceuta is the lack of solidarity with a Member State under external attack for reasons of internal politics and political exploitation. Italy, Denmark, Finland, but also the von der Leyen Commission. Meanwhile, more than half have already returned to Morocco.
Update: Over half of the 50,000 people who crossed into Ceuta have voluntarily returned to Morocco, according to the Spanish Interior Minister. The death toll is now at 41.
Just in: Over 49,000 people have crossed from Morocco into Ceuta in the last 24 hours, according to estimates from the Spanish Interior Minister. For comparison: - 2021 crisis: over 10,000 crossings - Ceuta population: 83,600 people
Love this: "Ukraine recently asked for protective netting to shield firefighting vehicles from drone attacks. DG ECHO - the DG for civil protection, had none. The EC’s fisheries department, however, had illegal fishing nets confiscated from France and Italy. They were sent to Ukraine instead."
Italy's far-right government is threatening to suspend the Schengen rules vis-à-vis Spain, ignoring that the enclaves of Ceuta & Melilla have their own specific provisions with regards to the EU's borderless travel zone. Populist slop based on social media videos.
Spain summons Italy’s ambassador after Italy said it’s considering suspending Schengen with Spain over the migratory crisis in Ceuta. Spain “expects European solidarity and not partisan demagoguery”, says foreign minister.
