Indeed! As the UCB research I cited here shows (contra Searchlight et al.), while climate change is not a *top* issue for voters, climate action is actually a *winning* issue. Especially when the world is on fire. www.transitiontimes.net/tt-12-a-fail...
TT#12: A Failure to Communicate
Most media organizations are still failing to make the critical link between climate change and the wildfires, record heat, and other climate disasters we are witnessing, but a few are getting it righ...

El-Sayed, Lawrence and McKinney all won progressive campaigns in Michigan last night by talking about climate and clean energy like it was a kitchen-table issue — because skyrocketing energy bills and endless wildfire smoke matter to people.
El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"
We've spent so much effort, for so long, to get this. And they lit so much money on fire. Imagine how much community organizing $60 million could have gotten in Michigan. But organized community wasn't the goal.
El-Sayed numbers truly INSANE this is a movement
University of Michigan voters have a 100% El-Sayed precinct right now.

Susan Collins announcing she'll vote against a controversial nominee is basically the moment it becomes clear that nominee will be confirmed. It means Thune has enough votes to confirm, and thus, Collins gets a pass to look independent.

“Coming up with universal rules, checklists, or impositions that apply to all of science is futile, and essentially authoritarian.” - @devezer.bsky.social Probably won’t be the most quoted line in the interview but one that I adore. Replace “science” with “people” and it still largely applies!
Q&A with @devezer.bsky.social about metascience, open science, and her work in this area.
There is a woman at work who speaks me to me about work tasks and daily things in French and she has no idea how much she’s holding up my mental health. I love her.

Deeply fucked that “regardless of what genitals a little girl has, I don’t think adults should demand to look at them” is considered a radical freak position in some corners
Insane that democrats keep trying to cave on this issue rather than amplifying the fact that it’s being spearheaded by bigots and freaks
An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
i sort of do believe in the "teleporting kills you" thing but it's that every time you go to sleep you die in real life. i refuse to address what this means about the nature of the human soul. that's somebody else's problem
i think the party of sick freaks who want to inspect kid's private parts should be branded as such
