It seems worth mentioning that Beira’s Place is not actually a rape crisis centre, but a support service, and the rape crisis centre that has actually been attacked in recent years is Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, following a harassment campaign led by JK Rowling.

Usually, if something is deeply damaging and defamatory to an organization you founded, you wouldn't say you want everyone to read it. Rowling is someone who is confident the system will back her regardless of how she undermines her own organizations legal position because of her wealth.

A screenshot of a social media post by J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling). The post is a quote-tweet of a user named Cara Pace (@CaraPac46808618), whose profile picture is a transgender pride flag.
Cara Pace's quoted post reads: "Silencing Amnesty just ensures more people will the read the report you do not want us to see"
J.K. Rowling's response reads: "I hope everyone reads the report. Nothing could better demonstrate how far Amnesty has fallen than their demonisation of gay rights charities for refusing to adopt Amnesty’s approved gender beliefs, or their attack on a rape crisis centre because it is run by women, for women."

Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley

The shamelessness of a political party which is led by a man who just weeks ago called for "pure cold rage" on the streets, shortly before migrants were literally burnt out of their homes, now accusing their opponents of "stochastic terrorism" against them, is quite something

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

Apparently Dr Mary Ann Stephenson, head of the EHRC was 'shocked' in a meeting with Unison when presented, by a trans rep, with 600 examples of documented harm (supplied by members) resulting from the UK's anti-trans policies. Has offered to work with the Union, although not clear what that means

Stop billionaires distorting our politics. It’s critical that MPs vote for @stellacreasy.bsky.social’s amendment to the Elections Bill next Tuesday capping individual donations to £100k. @andyburnham.bsky.social said he supported a donations cap. Tag & email your MP: bsky.app/profile/pete...

Britain has no cap on political donations. None. @stellacreasy.bsky.social has proposed capping them at £100,000. MPs - and everyone else - should back it when the Elections Bill returns to Parliament next week. New by me on Democracy for Sale: democracyforsale.substack.com/p/how-to-sto...

The ultimate bad faith argument from Brexiters. They claimed that Brexit would be a net benefit. It turned out to be a net cost to the UK, with no significant mitigating benefits. The fact that the failed project they promoted isn’t responsible for every other bad thing that happened is no defence.

It’s very telling that Somali referee Omar Artan was held and questioned for 11 hours before being denied entry to the US while alleged serial rapist Thomas Partey is waved through. What a deeply corrupt, sports-washing, fascist-enabling sham of a sporting competition this World Cup is.

In accordance with ancient tradition, our next Prime Minister is announced to the nation while standing between a furry and a man with a bin on his head.

A victorious Andy Burnham MP (24,937 votes), as the result of the Makerfield by-election is announced, flanked by defeated candidates Count Binface (a bloke in a vaguely sci-fi costume with a large bin for a helmet; 95 votes) and Robert Pownall (who is in a full body fox costume, holding a sign reading "Protect British Wildlife"; 18 votes). There are some other candidates there just out of shot but that's not important right now.

By 2018, analysts found hundreds of Kremlin-tied accounts tweeting "prolifically in Robinson's defence." He's appeared on RT again and again. Russia's Foreign Ministry put out a statement defending him and the state video agency Ruptly hosts 78 videos of him.

15 years ago today I arrived on Downing Street in a cage. I've seen off Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and I'm still going strong. Only two Prime Ministers have ever done longer stints here: William Pitt the Younger and Sir Robert Walpole. Bill and Bob - I'm coming for you... (Photos AP)

This morning we will hear the result of the judicial review of the government's ban on Palestine Action, on the grounds that it's a "terrorist" organisation. An important moment, which could have a major influence on freedom of speech and association in this country.

Worth noting that in their continued "unbiased" reporting (sarcasm) the BBC doesn't cover how the Cass Review has been repeatedly discredited by peer reviewed studies, that suicide rates among trans young people have increased or, not a small matter, QUOTES A SINGLE TRANS OR NON-BINARY INDIVIDUAL.

I dreamt the other night that York was invaded by Russia and our only defense was a small company of viking reenactors, and I think this might be a sign that I'm taking in too much geopolitical news.
