The acting attorney general’s conversation with Trump appears to have taken place just hours after the president publicly mused about pulling Blanche’s nomination and instead trying to push through a fund that could be used to compensate Jan. 6 rioters and others who claim to have been persecuted by the Biden administration. Announcements at the beginning and end of the Intercessors for America call stated that it was “not intended for press purposes.” A speaker told attendees that the call was “not on the record” and directed any journalists on the line to hang up. POLITICO was not on the call on Thursday when it took place and did not agree to any limits on reporting. Audio of the session was posted on YouTube by Intercessors for America, which calls itself “the largest national prayer ministry dedicated to praying for our government and leaders.” As of Monday, the recording remained publicly accessible.

The best thing about Vote Blue No Matter Who is that it unloads a lot of cognitive burden. I wanted Tom Steyer to be in the Governor's race, but he's not so I'm gonna vote for Becerra. I don't follow his campaign at all: I'm voting for him because he's not a Republican.

It's truly astonishing to me that a lot of folks don't seem to understand this. You might not like that a cop is authorized to shoot and kill someone who pulls a knife on them, and I get that. But afaik, MPD policy is very clear on it.

It's concerning that more people don't seem to realize that the most likely outcome is no charges and the cop back on the job, and there really isn't anything the city can do about it. A lot of people are going to be surprised.

my number one writing tip is make your characters objectionable. have them do shit that absolutely fucking sucks. force them to say something. cut that clean "moral" shit out. Don't explain. Just let it happen and force the audience to contend with it.

Speakers tonight are mostly expressing subdued shame at Council and the Mayor rather than anger. They have been on message, asking for funding of OIM and the arrest of Ruiz's killer, calling it an execution. Nothing is funnier to me than "Francesca Hong shouldn't be governor because she had $30K in credit card debt." Like, if that's your issue, just tell her to download Rocket Money! See? You sound very silly.

Reddit comment (by me): Racking up $30K in credit card debt over the last 15 years in this country, as a small business owner who also went through a divorce, just makes her like literally millions of other Americans. And it's quite silly to suggest that kind of financial trouble would carry over to being governor. Wisconsin is not struggling to stay almost. Hong is not going to be sitting down by herself opening Quicken and trying to figure out which bills she needs to pay first to keep the lights on. She will have a staff that drafts a budget for the legislature to amend and vote on. The state isn't going bankrupt because the governor spent too much on organic avocados one month or forgot to make a loan payment.
