I was born in a water moon… Since then I've paid an inordinate amount of attention to politics, made Sheffield my home, and made lots of things with yarn. Queer, disabled, democratic communist, one half of Mary James maryjamesauthor.wordpress.com

Reminder to politicians today: Lindsey Graham won’t see the posts of you reaching across the aisle to gush over how agreeable he was despite being of opposing political policies as you are but your constituents will.

How dare the slightest nod towards actual justice be made towards violent bigots? Remember the constant calls for disabled people to be left to starve to buy more weapons, and yet £25k of public money goes to compensate a bigot for the slightest possibility he might be *investigated* for making

For anyone not keeping up, Graham Linehan has been rewarded with £25K for calling for the public to "punch [trans women] in the balls".

Nigel Farage has called a “people vs the establishment” by-election in Clacton. He’s framing himself as the plucky outsider taking on the Westminster machine. Let’s talk about what “the establishment” actually means and what it doesn’t

We talk about “the Overton Window” and I do not think you will find a time in living memory when the goalposts of political acceptability were quite so forcefully yanked up, dragged rightwards and rammed back into the earth *by our political and media elite, in their own interest*, than our own era.

So my girlfriend @fearlessknits.bsky.social and I wrote a book a couple of years ago about Democratic Communist values, and she's just written an excellent blog post about how it pertains to the current Labour leadership struggle, and you should read it! And the book! It's free!

The Labour leadership contest will be a values test, and there’s a book (that I co-authored) for that

So there’s about to be a Labour leadership contest. You’ve probably noticed.Whether it’s Starmer hanging on, the briefcase horror of Streeting, Burnham making his move, or someone…

Hey, remember that book @jackalpants.bsky.social and I wrote a while back? I think it's extra relevant for Labour party members right now, and wrote a bit about why fearlessknits.wordpress.com/2026/05/16/t...

One of the glorious and wonderful things about humanity is that we are nowhere near as independent as our current overculture would like us to believe. We are all dependent on the stories of the past, and the future is built on what we make of the brief time we are here.

Presumably there will now be wall to.wall coverage of Green policies and Polanski will be all over the TV. Isn't this how it works for Farage?
