What all of the Odyssey takes convince me of is: I do not want to see one Odyssey-movie, I want to see a dozen. I'm happy to have seen Nolan's interpretation, and now I would love to see Wilson's (additionally to reading the one that already exists). And then give me many more Odysseys, please!

Another Odyssey take: I do not care whether the costumes are historically accurate. But it is pretty funny to have Penelope basically look into the camera and say "This is the Bronze Age and the Sea People are coming", and then everybody is dressed like some fantasy version of classical Greece.
Watched the Odyssey, and my hot take: It's pretty good, but its weakpoint is Odysseus of all things. Homer's Odysseus is a complicated, many-faced man. This one isn't. And PTSD just isn't a substitute for emotional and moral complexity.

If students are simply uninterested in the core bargain of a class like this, it’s hard to know what to do. You teach the material because you think it’s important they know it; they don’t give a shit, but want the credential; and the university wants their money. Your main option is “pretend”.
