can you guys retire "the right wing / chuds don't know what to do with trans men and forget they exist and will be So Confused by them!!!!" already. they are fully aware trans men exist and the thing they do to trans men is violently abuse and murder them
My surgery has gone smoothly, however I've been hit with an unexpected surcharge of 1.3k above the highest prior estimate. It really sucks to be in financial straits while in recovery, so I'm reopening my fundraiser. Please help if you can gofund.me/2bd9ebd3a

Everything else aside this genre of thing is full of embarassing confessions. In my family we do talk to each other while eating, no phones, bc we actually like each other a fair amount. What, like that's hard?
Ok, this one might be my favorite, haven't stopped laughing
yeah we gotta just ban the short form video platforms if they exist to blenderize loosely understood concepts from sociology and history into conspiracy-brained rants about how starbucks exists to neuter the revolutionary class
3rd spaces and revolution.
Things like seemingly harmless NYT consumption are big deals to trans people because transphobia, despite being intense and escalating these days, is an oppression often rendered invisible. Trans people are used to being abandoned by cis people, so even small abandonments have an impact.
I want to preface this thread with a little bit about me. I read a ton of M/M when I was young. I grew up reading M/M books from authors like Anne Rice and Mercedes Lackey. So I am not a stranger to enjoying M/M, even though I now almost exclusively focus on books that center W/W romance.
'And the act of my wife kissing me on my head or the fact that two women had got married was enough for some people to go, "Yeah, that's it. I'm out." The most genuinely uncomfortable thing is the same community that dropped me for kissing my wife are probably the same that are reading M/M romance.'
My experience as someone that was nb -> trans woman was that people really wanted me to stay nb and not claim womanhood!
saw this earlier and it genuinely broke my heart i'm not AMAB for the record but every nonbinary person deserves to belong in queer spaces
My main thing I've learned from being a feminist since I was a teen is that feminism isn't intuited by people who are negatively affected by sexism, it's hard worked through critical thought about the experience of sexism, and most people just refuse to learn that and default to prejudices about it.
Dudes with access to a web search posting en masse about how chuds don't like the Odyssey because it's about "hospitality and goodness" when the reality is that it's one of the earliest known works of nationalist masculine anxiety centered entirely around fear of the autonomy and power of women
The thing about the homoerotic overtones in male homosociality is that it is, first and foremost, a gender-policing mechanism. Marilyn Frye's quotation on heterosexual men being first and foremost "man-loving" is entirely true, but that doesn't mean that all men are in a happy brotherhood.
the lesson we are learning is that cis men have gender-class consciousness and understand the solidarity principle of "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us." challenging any one man's right to rape is throwing ALL men's power into question. they are defending their collective power.
I desperately need people to understand why pointing out that some racist male influencer has a non-white wife is neither "hypocrisy" nor even a "contradiction" in their worldview.
yeah the fact that these guys aren't super psyched about Troy Jackson—a progressive populist Democrat with a Boy Job (logger) who is now a leading contender to replace Platner—really lays bare how it was always about the darker, more violent, more abusive side of masculinity for these guys
Ah, but the Berniecrat part of it was never what attracted the Matts
Jackson endorsed a radical misinterpretation of title IX, one that runs counter to international precedents from liberal courts and will harm trans people for decades. The whole point of a dissent is to establish competing jurisprudence, and you fucking know that, you heartless freak
If you’re unwilling to read this piece before insisting you know what is going on with Justice Jackson, specifically regarding trans people, I’m sorry people are lying to you. And, if you don’t know me and just decided that I’m a cis guy who doesn’t care about trans people, that’s wrong and on you.
Serano sort of foreshadowed this in the beginning of Whipping Girl, all the way in 2008. "Biological sex" is actually *legal sex*, an abstract legal construct that supplants factual reality
Notably, HB2 defined "biological sex" as what was on birth certificates rather than any actual anatomical, genetic, or gonadal features. So even the rights own definition of it has shifted drastically in ten years as they searched for something workable. columbialawreview.org/content/sex-...
I think people think we're exaggerating when we say the widespread use of the term "biological sex" as a term itself isn't organic. This data isn't anomalous, it comports with everything we've seen about the specific use of the term.
i've seen some people argue that the term is used to explain the concept of transness to cis people as if the term isn't barely fifty years old, and as if it hasn't only recently been adopted to the degree that it has
Patriarchy is about maintaining the exploitability of sexual underclasses for those empowered to extract reproductive-sexual labour from them. In that sense, appealing to the idea that transphobia would eventually affect (marginal) cis women too was always futile. Feature. Not bug.
they're not moving to care much because in general the politics of cisness are "some baseline level of sexual violation is necessary to ensure that the neat categories of sex and heterosexuality are maintained"
I kinda memory-holed this until recently but Friends reruns were one of my earlier contacts to transfemininity and it did fuck with me a little bit. It's hard to grasp the extent to which the media is a collective, intergenerational trauma for trans women
Transmisogyny was a 10-season long joke in Friends and it was somehow relatively tame for 90s standards
Hi, thanks for those who helped these past days! I'll try to set smaller goals to make things easier. We need $350 for meds by this week, can you help with $5 or $10? Sharing also helps a lot! #trans #EN #mutualaid #pridemonth ko-fi.com/haileykaas

Bores' assembly constituents in the western UES identifying him as the sorta-kinda progressive candidate and going with Lasher is kinda funny. Rewrote political geography, just not how he wanted
Interesting how the theoretical legal absolutism of free speech in the US has done absolutely nothing to actually protect free speech

the failure of 2010s trans politics was that it believed that arch terf janice raymond was correct
every single study done on this shows that the actual best behavior is done under consistent pseudonyms and people behave worse under real names it’s counterintuitive but at this point the real names thing is willful denial of evidence
"The problem with the internet is anonymity" ok but people on nextdoor are insane next to their full name and address
it's remarkable how like, you can visibly notice how people who still use X regularly are either getting dragged to the right (if on the centre-left or centre) or just getting more toxic in general

I'm in my mid-30s. I spent a half-decade of my life knowing that I'm a trans woman but unable to act on it, unable to come out to anyone offline or access the resources I needed. Without support from my online peers, from lesbians and trans people, I would have without a doubt perished.
I'm in my 20s. I grew up with social media. Without that and video games, I would have been so completely isolated. We should be making the world safer for kids, not trying to ban them from it.
Much of modern crankery is fueled by a fetishization of a "natural" that is every bit an artificially constructed cultural product as the so-called modernity they abhor and scapegoat for today's ills. They are in denial that their hallucinations represent no known reality, living in phantasms.
Leeds is now the subject of a major inquiry into maternity. I previously reported on its decade long pursuit of 'normal birth' ideology that saw it have the lowest number of caesareans while stillbirths and baby deaths soared to the worst nationally www.thetimes.com/article/f3af...
bottom surgery for trans teens is an easy thing to fearmonger about but it’s also easy to push back on rhetorically. “no one is doing SRS on teens!” is a weak argument that is also not true and throws trans kids under the bus. “teens can consent to life saving healthcare, dipshit.” is true
"HR Lady" is just a distillation of "everything I don't like is feminized and also my mom telling me things I don't want to hear"
