Things like seemingly harmless NYT consumption are big deals to trans people because transphobia, despite being intense and escalating these days, is an oppression often rendered invisible. Trans people are used to being abandoned by cis people, so even small abandonments have an impact.

I want to preface this thread with a little bit about me. I read a ton of M/M when I was young. I grew up reading M/M books from authors like Anne Rice and Mercedes Lackey. So I am not a stranger to enjoying M/M, even though I now almost exclusively focus on books that center W/W romance.

My main thing I've learned from being a feminist since I was a teen is that feminism isn't intuited by people who are negatively affected by sexism, it's hard worked through critical thought about the experience of sexism, and most people just refuse to learn that and default to prejudices about it.

Dudes with access to a web search posting en masse about how chuds don't like the Odyssey because it's about "hospitality and goodness" when the reality is that it's one of the earliest known works of nationalist masculine anxiety centered entirely around fear of the autonomy and power of women

The thing about the homoerotic overtones in male homosociality is that it is, first and foremost, a gender-policing mechanism. Marilyn Frye's quotation on heterosexual men being first and foremost "man-loving" is entirely true, but that doesn't mean that all men are in a happy brotherhood.

the lesson we are learning is that cis men have gender-class consciousness and understand the solidarity principle of "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us." challenging any one man's right to rape is throwing ALL men's power into question. they are defending their collective power.

I desperately need people to understand why pointing out that some racist male influencer has a non-white wife is neither "hypocrisy" nor even a "contradiction" in their worldview.

yeah the fact that these guys aren't super psyched about Troy Jackson—a progressive populist Democrat with a Boy Job (logger) who is now a leading contender to replace Platner—really lays bare how it was always about the darker, more violent, more abusive side of masculinity for these guys

Notably, HB2 defined "biological sex" as what was on birth certificates rather than any actual anatomical, genetic, or gonadal features. So even the rights own definition of it has shifted drastically in ten years as they searched for something workable. columbialawreview.org/content/sex-...

I'm in my 20s. I grew up with social media. Without that and video games, I would have been so completely isolated. We should be making the world safer for kids, not trying to ban them from it.
