Lauren Edwards, who’s bringing back the assisted dying bill, has responded to Andy Burnham’s comments. She argues improving social and palliative care can go hand in hand with assisted dying as per some other nations. She also notes a 4 year implementation period for the bill.

Ireland has become far too comfortable with empty apologies. This month's apology to the survivors of Bill Kenneally's abuse was hard won, and it came about thanks to brave survivors who fought for their stories to be heard. But accountability doesn't end with an apology. It starts there.
