This is an interesting way to frame the generational split in the Democratic Party. If you're below a certain age it's impossible to see Trumpism as anything but a wildly successful permanent remaking of the GOP, whereas people above a certain age still often see it as a temporary state of affairs.

Something I think that underlies a lot of debates within the Democratic party and center-left right now is whether or not you think Trumpism has been successful as a political and ideological project. (Not, obviously, whether it's been good or not).

This is a perfect encapsulation of how the Beltway press engages with politics, in that it lazily regurgitates the words of politicians and treats them as the only important pieces of information, rather than report about or contextualize the underlying facts, which would require doing actual work.
