Because I'm sure the NYT has never made a publication decision based on whether readers will want to read the story. This is what conservative leadership of a news org looks like. It's not MAGA, Q*non, or white Christian supremacist, but it is conservative. (btw not dragging @zhugeex.com)

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.

The NYT lost the Pulitzer for their transphobic podcast series with Azeen Ghorayshi to Pablo Torre and his reporting on the Clippers. They're salty about it so of course they're not going to properly credit him.

Screenshot of an X (Twitter) post by journalist Julie K. Brown (@jkbjournalist) criticizing coverage by The New York Times and The Athletic.
The post text reads:
"It is shameful that @nytimes @TheAthletic buried the fact that the biggest punishment in NBA history was the result of an investigation by journalist @PabloTorre. And to call it the result of a 'podcast episode' is a further slap in the face. He won a Pulitzer for this story and they call it an 'episode' instead of, at the outset -- crediting him with exposing this scandal. Really really lame."

this might be the most Trump thing he's ever done. a fuckin aircraft carrier doing a point-for-point recreation of the Battleship Potemkin mutiny because of his insane war, and he's going to prosecute the sailors for hurling themselves into the sea

The sailor on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier who jumped overboard in an attempt to die by suicide has been charged with violations and could have his pay docked. www.ms.now/news/navy-sa...

Even if you grant the absurd premise about Jews and Italians, this only makes sense if you know *nothing* about India or its politics. Mamdani is criticizing a leader of the RSS. It's a violent Hindu nationalist group, one of whose devotees literally killed Gandhi.

White House official Peter Navarro agrees with Steve Bannon that Canada is now a "wholly owned subsidiary of the Chinese Communist Party" "Vancouver is now big Hong Kong," Navarro says

"I have invented a term, 'wokeism,' and then I have imagined that wokeism was disavowed. So what do the people who my friends in the newsroom (and absolutely no one else) call 'wokesters' have to say for themselves, now that I have imagined them into capitulation?" www.nytimes.com/2026/08/26/o...

Opinion | My Question for the Formerly Woke

Before a Woke 2 takes over, let the proponents of its predecessor explain how and why they’re moving on.

People are always making all kinds of assumptions about me just because I have webbed fingers and scaly fins and I'm constantly saying stuff like "I must return now to the ocean, where I live". That doesn't mean anything. I'm just making conversation

Don't cite the deep magic to me, witch. I straight-up don't remember writing that shit. I don't know how it runs when it calls on a non-existent .txt called deepmmagic. Yeah two Ms I missed it. And yes I know it always crashes to desktop on exit. No I won't help you mod it for "deeper magic"

let's start doing it the other way. my latest for the atlantic: "baby boomers are dying at higher rates than younger generations — what are they doing wrong?"

It also feels like a very on-point demonstration of the fact that all kinds of things are expected of - and inflicted upon - left wing politics that even their *very* harshest critics wouldn’t dream of applying to anyone from the centre to the far right.

AOC just mildly disavowed "woke 1" and it sparked a weeks-long, ongoing discourse cycle about radicalism on the left. The idea that prominent Dems "disavowing" far-left figures will stop the right from talking about them is laughable.

also if you go back and read what she actually said, she doesn't really even "disavow woke 1" it was completely a manufactured newscycle created by the brunchlord press

like, this is Shari Redstone speaking directly to the New York Times about her motivations: she wanted to fire everyone who criticized Israel and explicitly make its news coverage Trumpist. she did not want this for commercial reasons. she wanted this because she wanted CBS to be a propaganda outlet

calling this batch of caliper guys "race realists" is in a very loose sense accurate, in the way that supporting a genocidal war could be described as a permissive attitude towards defense spending, but the level of obsfuscation involved there is difficult to distinguish from outright lying
